"Bose noise-masking sleepbuds™ are uniquely designed for sleep. But they don’t stream music or have acoustic noise cancellation. Instead, these tiny, wireless earbuds use pre-loaded, soothing sounds to cover up unwanted noises, so you can get to sleep and stay asleep."

The last post at around this price has a great summary of features/pros and cons/reviews

The 30 Night free trial offer appears to have finished as of 31 December 2018 (although is still mentioned on the Bose Australia store listing, so YMMV)

Overpriced earplugs since can only play predetermined sounds.

    • The comments on the previous time this was posted as a deal tends to agree with this opinion.

Hopefully smoke alarm is not one of the unwanted noises.

I don't wake up for mine anyway

  • Lol I can't believe a product like this actually exists. I sleep with earphones in every night but I wouldn't pay $300 for something an app on my phone can probably do better. Not sure where the market demand would come from

    • those ear buds white in colour, you guess.

Lol I can't believe a product like this actually exists.

You have to keep in mind that not everybody is like you. It's great that you can sleep with earphones in every night, but not everybody finds it comfortable, especially if you sleep on your side.

I wouldn't pay $300 for something an app on my phone can probably do better.

Once again, that would not work for everyone unless you can sleep with earphones in, or sleep alone.

Not sure where the market demand would come from

Not every product is made to suit everybody, and not everybody has the same ears as you. This product started out on Indiegogo and clearly raised enough interest for Bose to decide there is a market. It's definitely a niche product and will never be as popular as regular earphones, but there certainly is a market.

      • But these are earphones

      • Your right about one thing, this product is not made to suit everyone. Its for precious white folk with loads of money

The 30-night free trial now only applies if you buy it from the Bose store. Amazon also allows you to return them, but I think that's their own offer and not related to the Bose one.

  • Anything like this seems horrid for a side sleeper. I can't imagine anything but comply(?) safety plugs being comfortable

That's what I thought too, but people who have actually tried it say this:

      Choice
Typical earbuds can be uncomfortable to wear, particularly if you sleep on your side, as they protrude from the ear canal. Sleepbuds however, sit flush against your ear, with a snug, soft rubber finish that feels comfortable and secure.

      Gizomodo
I was really impressed by the level of comfort offered by the Sleepbuds. They don't stick, I was able to lie comfortably on my side and they were secure enough that they stayed in all night. While you can of course still tell that you're wearing something, they're far more comfortable than most earplugs or ordinary earbuds that I've tried to sleep with before.

      Engadget
That being said, the entire point of the Sleepbuds is that they are as small and unobtrusive as possible so you can sleep comfortably on your side.

Even if you're a side sleeper putting the weight of your head on the Sleepbuds, they're comfy to wear.

I've tried both foam and wax earplugs to block out noise while I'm sleeping. The Sleepbuds are much more comfortable than foam, which doesn't penetrate far enough into the ear canal to make side sleeping comfortable (small ears, remember?) and often falls out over the course of the night. The comfort is on par with wax earbuds, but those don't make noise, so…

  • Why is Bose using "Free trial" if you have to purchase it for the trial.. Wouldn't it just be 30 Day trial Period/Money back guarantee?

Also I've always wanted earphones that I could wear in bed, but is there no way of playing my own music on these things? Would make sense if it worked with the Pre Loaded sounds and my phones apps.

You're not really expecting Bose to let you take a $379 product home for 30 days without paying for it are you? That's not how the world works. And no, you can't play your own music.

  • I recently returned my sleep buds due to a humming noise in the left speaker.
Please have a quick google and if you can try and wait until they fix this issue.

FYI - response from bose about another issue.

“We understand that you're having a hard time with your Noise-Masking Sleepbuds and we know that this is quite an inconvenient, but let me do my best to assist you with this. For "Pillow Noise," we are working on creating anti-friction decals,
We’re in the process of creating anti-friction decals that can be applied to the sleepbuds to potentially address the "Pillow Noise" issue. We do not yet have a release date for when they will be available.

We hope that we have assisted you with this query. Please let us know if you have any other queries or concerns.

Once they resolve these teething issues I’ll be buying another pair as they worked really well when it wasn’t humming.
