Hi all,

This seems to be a decent deal.
Please note this is Kiss X4, which is the Japanese version of 550D.
It's identical.

  • Grey import?

      has to be grey - it's a Kiss X4.
      $10 cheaper on ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/170633269345
plus you get a spare battery and UV lens

      • Yeah, not sure why I used a question-mark (?). Ha.

      • No bargain. Not as good a deal as the eBay item mentioned above.

          Can buy elsewhere for less.

  • Not at all a bad price, but probably about right for a grey import. It's good to see you included p&p in the price.

The 550d with a stock 18-55 is the perfect way to start out with DSLR photography. It has only very recently been replaced with the 600d. This is the sort of picture you're able to capture using this combination.

Joking right… the 550D is hardly "very" old… (the replacement model has only just come out!) The 550D is a great entry level DSLR. Kit lens are not the best compared to more expensive lenses, but good enough for most "consumers" (as opposed to a "prosumer") and no different than kit lenses from other brands. If you really want a lens hood then buy one for like $5 off ebay.

are you talking about the 550d? it's a great camera which takes great photos, even with the kit lenses. the 600d (its replacement) essentially has the same internals and is largely a cosmetic upgrade - with the flip out screen being the main change.

Pre earthquake, the Kiss X4 body only was $569 from DWI which sells grey.

Post earthquake, body only is about ~$660. Hopefully the prices do come down when companies can get their stock levels up.

Umm… how are they suppose to get their stock levels up on the old model? Surely they are only producing the new model now (and probably have been for awhile).
