Australian Customs and Multiple Items?

Hi guys! Back for more help, this time about the $1000+ customs tax.
I was doing a bit of reading on the customs website and it mentioned that multiple items arriving at the same time for a single customer would be calculated together?
A.k.a package 1 = $600 package 2 = $550 = $1150 taxable amount?

If that is the case then..if I were to order package one to my house.. and send package 2 to a local friends house (because I love to give expensive presents ;] ) would I theoretically avoid the tax?

    That would seem to make sense…
    Why not just order things a few days/weeks apart to the same address?

      Reason why people order in bulk is to save on shipping cost. therefore the person should calculate what would cost more, the tax or the separate shipping.

    Because I need them at the same time =P.
    Afraid to send one day apart or something in case they somehow catch up to each other hehe.
    So looking for alternatives..using different person's address isn't too much of a hassle.
    Just wanted to make sure it worked..but I can't really see how they could catch you out.

    I doubt they add up parcels sent via regular mail to the same person. They have too much other stuff to worry about.

    they do check this.

    So just get it sent to friends houses.

    Just make sure your package has an invoice inside.

    A lot of chinese places don't put an invoice in the box and customs don't know what the value is.

    They will only add the packages together if they are from the same place, if they are from different shops/store etc they won't be added together.
