Repair Wool Pants with Two Holes

Don't ask me how i did it, but I've torn two massive holes (about 3cm each) in my pants. It's part of a suit so i was hoping to get it repaired since i cant seem to find the exact same pants anywhere.

Is it repairable or worth repairing? It's a relatively cheapist suit (350 for pants and suit), but still i dont want to basically throw away the suit because of it.

Dunnoe if it helps, but ive had the pants shortened so ive got some spare fabric.

Ive messaged a few people on gumtree and none seem to be able to repair it.

Thanks

    • Thx for pointing that out, imgur app is pretty trash. New link should work

    • The suit is for work, where impression sorta counts. If there's a bulging patch, id be too embarrassed to wear it

        if impressions counts… get a new suit……

also tip, always get two suit pants, and rotate, u wear the pants fast than the jacket,

Where are the holes on the pants? (knees, back etc). I would try a tailor of some sort (just google your suburb + tailor). They are rather unusual marks.

Unfortunately, suit pants wear out. They don't last forever. If you don't already, you should consider having multiple suits so the fabric isn't used each day. The jacket is probably still useable as a jacket with chinos or something.

    • I havent had free time from work lately so ive been calling up people on gumtree who advertise that they mend/repair clothing. All said they cant do it. Not too sure if it's lack of expertise, too difficult or not doable

It's at the knee. I fell pretty hard.

Thankfully i do have other suits but these were my go to ones ;(. Very comfy too so great for work.

Would be a waste too if i cant fix it, not to mention pricey getting another suit.

Do you reckon they are repairable or have anyone to refer?

I think a super tailor would cut a circle from a hidden cuff and replace the whole area. Probably cheaper to just buy new pants.

  • Where do you live? I know someone who could repair it for you If you are in Melbourne.
