Huawei P30 Pro $79 / Month (Bonus Sonos One Smart Speaker) with Telstra $99 Lease Plan 24M Contract @ Telstra

40

This is not a published deal but seems standard on 24X7 chat.

They currently advertise a double credit on the 160G plan but seems you can get that on the cheaper plans too.
I manage to get $20 credit and 5GB extra data on the $99 lease plan for P30 Pro.
Now the plan is worth $50 so 12 months is $600. The plan base on 12 months is $948 + $99 (upgrade fee)=$1047
So you basically pay 1/3 of the value of this phone to use it for 12 months, and save the hustle of selling your used phone when you upgrade.

I know traditionally OZB is not friends of lease plan. For those who whish to keep their phone as long as possible, the JB HIFI deal may be a better one. I think it is a great deal for those who want to upgrade every year.

BTW those who want the 160G plan, 24x7 was saying they can't stack porting credit on that deal but the store guy said he can do it. If true that is another cracking deal. Feel free to try on 24X7 or in store.

  • what Telstra say and what they do later are 2 different planes of existence. Doesn't matter what's in writing and there are no consumer safeguards 'cept a court.

Australia need a royal commission into Telco's as a matter of urgency.

Would go for this plan if Telstra could offer dual sim version P30 pro like Optus does.

    • I end up buying outright, dual Sim is one reason, another is software update. Carrier s always delay on that.

  • Had no luck getting this, agent was baffled how you managed to get the $20 credit applied to the 50GB plan.

    • With port in credit that is $10 credit and there is another $10 credit that they can give as an incentive.

This only applies to a handset plan. Don't think you can get that on BYO.

I asked a "smoking man" in Telstra and advised that this is now they do the $20 discount on the 160g lease/buy plan. So that explains why the agent told me can't use the port in credit with the 160G special. "However" stores may have other trick up their sleeves.

      • Probably worth mentioning in original post that this is only for new customers/port ins.

      • Tried asking Livechat and they said they can only do $10

Asked specifically for $20, but they won't do it

Also, wouldn't the Buy plan be better value? It's another $10/m, or $240 to own the phone outright

        • if you are buying the JB HIFI deal wins hands down. $699/24 =29.125/month + 65 per month = 94.125 for 80G data and you own the handset too.

My calculation is a bit different on the lease plan. The plan is worth $50 at least weither I sing up for a phone or not. So that is $600 I am going to spend anyway. the $79 @ 12 month is $948. So basically I pay $348 to use a top of the range phone for 12 months and don't have to worry about seeling it after 12 months.

attempting to push now - u have to be brutal. The dont care at all for customer retention

wouldnt have a bar of it.
          - i am an existing customer however… guess i wont be existing for to much longer

    • I ended up getting $20 credit and extra 5GB on the $109/m "Buy" plan

So $89/m all up for 55GB, slightly less $ and data than the JB-Hifi deal, but then you don't need to pay $699 upfront

You'll need to get lucky with the right agent

      • new port in?

        • Yep

          • @TeeJay: Telstra are ANAL about this… literally said: im leaving. thats Me and My wife for optus. please offer me this. and not a single S*** was given.
new customers for the win. current customers. .. ??

  • Do they still do 12 month lease?

Your contract is 24 months but you can upgrade after 12 months.

For 24 months I think the JB HIFI deal is better.
