Currently, I'm using Dyson DC44 and after we decide to upgrade the vacuum. I seriously considering between Xiaomi Dreame v9 Cordless Vacuum and Dyson v7 in the similar price range.

Finally, decided to go for Dyson even though the Xiaomi Dreame v9 has a more powerful motor.
Because…
1. 2 Year warranty with Convenient store location (Binglee is 5mins away from my house)
2. Brand preference (My wife don't like Xiaomi)

  • At this price, the Dyson V7 is an excellent choice! It has a number of significant improvements over the V6 (which is still a decent machine, of course)

  • Bought it. Thanks.

  • I looked at it during the weekend and its 300

  • Wish they would ship to Perth

  • Dyson is a good brand and you won't be disappointed. I also have 4 year old dyson v6 absolute and xiaomi dreame. Both machines are very well made and doing the job done very nice.

    • I just ordered a xiaomi dreame. It's on the way to me.
I was just wondering if I made the better decision. What do you think?

      • +1

I can say Dreame is V8 equivalent and suction power is much stronger than V7 and have longer battery time. I bought it when it was @$299 and very satisfied with my purchase.

    • My parent's V6 battery dead twice within 10 month. Lucky Dyson AU was able to send replacement battery twice. My V7 battery dead 3 month after purchase from Amazon AU international store. No replacement battery, no repair, they even want to charge me processing fee since it's out of the return window. what a fight to get a refund. Very bad experience. btw: both vacuums have been lightly used in house with floorboard.

      • I think this is an example of a domestic versus an import product. With any international product you are only relying on reputation for any warranty service at all. Dyson are a great machine but not unbreakable.

      • How & when you charge the device will affect battery health and longevity.
I found a few tricks along the way (after previously owning the DC34).
The wall-mount charger thing that comes with the product, wants you to mount it to a wall, so you may put it in the charger after every time you vacuum (this can be bad for the battery especially if you only vacuumed a little).
We always (remembering the battery life is 30 mins) wait until we have used it for at least an estimated 15-20 mins total (however many vacuuming sessions) before charging it.

Also the wall-mount has a funny weird path which forces the charging cable to be bent and contorted quite severely. Thinking this will damage the longevity of the cable itself (affecting a healthy charge ability), we opted to charge the vacuum by plugging in the cable each time you hand instead of using the mount.

Epilogue: we used the DC34 for a few years before setting up the wall-mount charger, and within months after using it in this way (returning vacuum to wall-charger every-time), the vacuum stopped working (most likely better failure).

  • Would this work better on thick carpets vs. the Xaomi Dreamed?

    • If you have thick carpets, Dyson will do better but I use Dreame at Max setting when I vacuum thick carpet area and no problems at all.

As someone new to dyson stuff, what is the difference between this one, animal version, and absolute version? Which one works well on 2 bedroom apartment with some thick carpet area? (no pet)

We picked up this exact model up for $270 with eBay code from BingLee eBay store last year.
This is still a decent price, given that if you are using at as an accompaniment to a traditional large vacuum, you have the option to sell the motor-head and extension tube online for around $100 - $150 as they are unable to be purchased separately from Dyson last time I checked.
