Just was wondering if I onsell a mobile (Samsung S10e) does the warranty transfer with it? What do I need to provide the buyer with for this to happen? Thanks in advance.
Do Phone Warranties Transfer with Sale?
Comments
Sure, what about if I'd rather not give the buyer all my details? I'm guessing there's no other way of transferring the warranty…
You need proof of purchase, so either a receipt/invoice or your bank statement. Lack of warranty is one of the cons but also a reason for secondhand/non-retail cheaper prices.
Samsung say their warranty is not transferable
that is incorrect
This warranty is provided only to you and is not transferable, however, subsequent owners may have statutory rights to a remedy if the Product is faulty. Please keep your proof of purchase documentations, such as the original sales receipt or the relevant credit card statement. Proof of purchase is required to obtain warranty performance.
From ACC
Rights to a repair, replacement, refund, cancellation or compensation do not apply to items:
bought as a one-off from a private seller, for example at a garage sale or fete (but you do have rights to full title, undisturbed possession and no unknown debts or extra charges)
So unless it is a gift as mentioned above (which it doesn't seem to be) the right don't include the repair warranty
bought as a one-off from a private seller
The buyer isn't claiming a statutory guarantee from OP. The statutory guarantee comes from the supplier which in this case is either the retailer or the manufacturer.
If you got it from Telstra, you can provide them with the EPOW
No, I got it directly from Samsung… all I have is an invoice with all my details on it. All good, I just wondered if I had to give this to them as well if I did sell or pass this onto someone else.
Give the buyer the invoice.
