2-in-1 Style PC for Uni Student under $1000

Looking for a 2-in-1 style PC for uni student under $1000.
I am actually looking for my sister who had a Surface Pro 4 for 2 years and 3-4 months but the battery died out and no repair place in Hobart seems to be good enough to replace it, she was very happy with the size, portability and other things.
An iPad Pro is not out of the picture but she would obviously prefer a Windows device.
She would prefer an Intel processor, 8gbs of ram, 128gb ssd.

Any suggestions?

(She can get student discount at places like Microsoft and Apple if that helps)

    I've been quite susceptible to Chinese branded laptops recently after purchasing one for my partner.

    This 2 in 1 for example has very good specs for the price

    It's kind of hard to find a good spec 2 in 1 within your price range - brand new anyway. Even looking at JB HI-FI you don't get the 8gb of RAM that you want for $800.

    Have you thought about second hand from GumTree?

      Yeah, I was actually looking at Dell, they are more expensive (than Acer for example) but they have a 25% off clearance right now so that's looking worthwhile imo. If you stray away from the 2-in-1 format you could get a Surface Laptop (1st gen) with the 10% student discount at microsoft @ $990 which is a pretty good deal and the surface laptop is a amazing device. (10% off all purchases and $100 gift card on buying). I'm just not sure about the Intel m3 inside.

    I think the closest to Surface Pro would be the Lenovo Miix tablets.
