    You know it's mainstream when…

wow they are just making an edition for everything these days..

    • There's only so many monopoly sets you can stack up at home before it is just all rubbish.

  • It’s been $15 on Amazon.

    • When? I got it for $24.52 in November, that was the cheapest I saw it

      • 22nd March according to keepa

    • USD?

They could have actually sold a ton of these if they included an exclusive skin.

    Gtfo

  • I want a PUBG Monopoly!

  • The Fortnite branding is very strange. It’s for 8 year olds but the aim it to murder the other 99 people in cold blood. I genuinely wonder why adults are ok with this? Do they simply not know?

    • +1

The board is missing 20% of the spaces between the corner squares, like monopoly junior.

    • Technically the aim is to outlive the 99 other players, not kill them.

      • Dare you to win the game without firing a single shot. lol

        • Not that difficult to camp to the final 2. Getting the victory royale is pretty tough though..

A lot of the parents probably came from the N64/PS1 era of video games where kids were playing things like Goldeneye, but still manage to know the difference between video game violence and real life violence.

The amount of time they spend on it with access from every connected device (iPad/iPhone, console, PC) is a bigger issue for parents.

      • +1

        Did someone say….. Goldeneye?

Man Mario Kart is shooting other people. Even just Super Mario is filled with Death.

      Grow up.

      • -2

lol. None of those characters actually ever die despite driving high speeds into a wall or sewer pipe or hit by a flying turtle shell.

        • So violence is ok as long as no-one dies?

          • @djkelly69: Animated (arguable) violence. Most people (including children) can distinguish between reality and cartoon characters. Going by that logic, then Looney Tunes should not be shown since Wil.E.Coyote blows himself up most times without dying too.

            • @bchliu: The characters in Fortnite are semi-cartooney (particularly compared to PUBG, etc), so that is arguably animated violence as well. They don't really show death in it either.

        • +1

Actually you do die on Mario games. You literally have a thing called "lives" to limit how many times you can die

    • Pokemon is for 8yo too, yet..

      • Reminds me of when Pokemon became a target for PETA

  • My kids tell me that fortnite is so yesterday.
They don't do the flossy dance thing anymore either:)

  • Monopoly with Old Kent Rd and Mayfair etc is timeless and this is so 2018. Is it Monopoly?

Since no one's commenting on the actual game,

    It's pretty cool.

The whole thing is redesigned with Fortnite in mind, you can throw down a brick wall and stop the other player's turns with it, the storm is constantly taking health from you (health points are what you use, rather than money, and you can only hold 15 so there's no bullshit hoarding and dragged out nonsense like often happens in Monopoly), there's boogie bombs as well that you throw to shatter all the walls and passing go gets you some health points. We only played it a few times but it's quite fun and shakes up Monopoly just enough that it's almost actually fun to play.

Would recommend for 20 odd bucks, yeah.

    • Awesome, actually sounds a hell of a lot more fun than actual Monopoly!
