Damora Eton Cracker Biscuits 250gm $0.99 (Were $1.39) @ ALDI

651

Greetings everyone, as part of my weekly shop last week I noticed these had price dropped. I have recently moved from Jatz to these and can say at 99c they're great value!

These have been $1.39 for quite a while I believe before this price drop.

  • Original cracker biscuits.
  • No artificial colours or flavours.
  • No preservatives.
  • The perfect addition to your next entertaining platter.

These are made in Australia from at least 89% australian ingredients.

As always, enjoy!

I don't understand how you can logically specify a year then call this greatest of all time

  • I give that 2 stars.

    Reviews at Aldi Mum.

I can vouch for their Tim Tam equivalents, as well as their chilli Kettle Chip knock offs.

      • I hereby anoint you OzBargain's product test stunt dummy.

        • Does he needs to get stunted before eat-testing or after ?

      • Agree re chili, it's pretty good!

Kettle need to bring back their honey baked ham flavour.. there's something not quite right about the Aldi one imo

        • Agree Aldi chips are very hit or miss. Grain waves knock offs are crap.

      • +2

yeah the chilli chips are ace. A lot of their stuff is (not a shill.)

Also worth mentioning it has a 2 star health rating like Jatz. FYI Ritz crackers do not have a displayed health rating because if they did they would be half a star. Most supermarket generic jats are 1 or 1.5 health stars.

    • +2

      Yep, 14.9% fat.

I love star ratings - i've been giving a whole bunch of stuff a miss since taking more notice of them.

      • I'm comparing these to Ritz on the site you linked. Its annoying that Ritz serving is 6 biscuits and an Aldi one is 4.

Pretty sure Damora wouldn't be 2 stars if their serving size was more realistic, but less sat fat, sugar and salt on them regardless.

Who eats these crackers thinking they're eating healthy food?

      • Nobody I hope! that isn't the point.

If you are going to eat crackers, better to have healthier ones instead of ones loaded with fat.

        • +1

A lot of healthier ones taste horrible though. These are a cheap and tasty savoy alternative.

You'd be surprised the amount of justifying and rationalising that can go in people's heads. "Oh but it's olive oil" "oh but it's the diet variety".

Not keen on these, made in China.
    Prefer food made locally.

I've been noticing even some sakata lines, except thr original/plain and multi grain, are made overseas. (made in Thailand)

    • Ok. Thanks for letting us know.

    • +1

      Are you sure?

Hot Aldi Mum shows a pack from Nov 2016 that indicates Australian Made.

      • Great pick up there "TheGhostWhoWalks" phew, that's a long username to spell lol

    • +7

I have a pack right in front of me and it says Made in Australia. See here and it says manufactured 25/01/2019.

      • Thanks for the details, brilliant news!

    • +1

      Its Made in Australia.

Price has been 99c for about 3 weeks now. I get a box each week, it's great with the French onion dip from Aldi and a green stuffed olive. Living the dream!

    • -4

I'll buy a pack of these so i can dream of being just like you: fat.

      • How do you know @Putnum BMI?
If you only eat that much a week, you'd be dreaming: skinny

      • My BMI is 22.5 buddy

        • -3

Then why does your avatar come labelled as 'FAT', buddy?

Looks like misleading and deceptive conduct to me, buddy.
I'll be lodging a compliant complaint, buddy.

        • +1

How can you get defensive about being called fat when your avatar has 'FAT' across its chest?!

          • +3

            @AlexG: Yeah, that's what i thought.

Of course i'm the Phantom. I've got a Phantom T-shirt stretched across my BMI 45 chest.

  • I can't believe Arnotts have the audacity to sell the Savoy for $3….. Although they are on special every second week.

    • +1

Yeah but these aren't as good as Savoy quite tasteless.

      • Agree. Savoy taste better.

  • Does ALDI sell a Ritz equivalent? Prefer that cheese flavour on my unhealthy crackers

  • I don't like these at all. Tastes nothing like a Savoy…maybe they are based on Jatz? Regardless a pass for me.

  • Perfect when the wife starts to complain, "just e(a)ton"

Very very high in sugar compared with Savoy. Looks similar but beware!!

    • +1

What does high sugar have to do with the deal itself?

      • One of many factors relevant to assessing the deal i would say…
