The price on this game has basically nose-dived, just about everywhere is discounting it heavily, despite the fact that it is quite a good game. Toyworld has it for $19, you can find it online for $17, but you'd have to pay for freight and its probably easier just to go to Toyworld and pick it off the shelf.
So where did this game go wrong? Well, for a start they called it Risk, even though it is nothing like the original Risk and basically plays like Queen's gambit. There's also a pretty significant imbalance - its quite hard to win as the Empire, and pretty easy to win as rebels. It probably wasnt polished enough to appeal to the nerds, and not quite accessible enough for the normies. They probably would have been better off releasing a Star Wars Monopoly instead, although it pains me to admit it.
Even boardgamegeeks gives it a pretty favourable 7.1, better than what they give the original Risk, and BGG is known to favour European over American tabletop games.
