Chemist Warehouse Overcharging On Promotional Items

Chemist Warehouse cheating prices.

I have been noticing lately that everytime I go to CW I end up being over charged for some item. I tend to always buy promotional items and thats how I notice when I am paying the bill that the price is different from what was advertized.
Today I bought only 2 items, Codral flu and and Scholl velvet smooth ultra coarse roller heads advertise at $10 as a deal. When I pay they charge me $14 for this last item and in the docket I can read that I am actually saving 9… but, that is not the price I should be paying.
This is the 3rd time in a raw something like this happens to me at CW. I actually remember the 1st time it happend they offered me to give me a "free item" that I didn't needee or wanted as I was just being over charged for something I thought it was a deal.

Perhaps let the transaction through before informing the cashier. Get a refund on the spot but not before you snap a photo of the correct price vs price paid. Evidence is paramount to a successful complaint.

Easy and free way to get evidence. If you manage to hold up the line, they may be more inclined to change their practices.

My understanding is if the price is rung up higher than the shelf price you should get it for free. Thanks for the heads up will keep an eye on my Chemist Warehouse bills.

That's a voluntary code of practice at supermarkets. It's not the law for all stores to abide by.

Thanks for the reply. Would still be worth bringing up.

        • If you got a skin thick enough to be laughed at for sounding entitled.

          • @Ughhh: You dont get what you don’t ask for, they can only say no.

@try2bhelpful: Make sure you ask for more than, like 50% off other items, otherwise you won't get what you dont ask for.

              • @Ughhh: There is a difference here; but hey, whatever makes you feel good.

Hi… just want to say totally unrelated.

I like your anpanman avatar. lol

        • Yeah, I do agree with the avatar comment. We had pugs when I was a kid and they are, really, big dogs in little dogs bodies.

Typical ACCC garbage where business is allowed to do what it wants and the ACCC writes 50 pages about how reasonable and understanding everything is so that makes it great for consumers even though they don't have rights.

Coming from the same douchebags that stated consumers don't mind electricity blackouts so private sector can spend less on maintenance.

      • I can confirm woolworths doesn't do it as a rule. Some cashiers might, but some definitely don't. I've had 0% freebies out of dozens of attempts (I make them refund the difference, or I return the product. I'm sick of their cons.

They also put the wrong product over the wrong price tags to sucker people. They catch me heaps, but I return the product every time.
My aim is for them to have to employ a full time person just to deal with me.

Oh sorry, is this a CW thread?

We had that happen as well was. The product above the price was different to that on the label. Learnt to look more closely, in the future.

Sounds like OP runs a Terry white 😅

  • happens a lot when catalogues change, they seem to have the same product in multiple locations, meaning they will always miss one

happened to me and they just charged to the lower price ( the shelf had the lower price but they charged me the higher, they gave it to me at the cheaper price)

'This is the 3rd time in a raw'

That must cause a real sensation in the store.

They probably have a cream for that…

  • Hmm I got caught the other day. Something had a half price sticker, so I thought I was getting a bargain. But apparently the price had already been marked down :(
