Apply. then attend a job interview

    • Where are they posted? Where to apply. Any web links?

    • Not the case for elections. You just apply, have a good application e.g. if you’re bilingual and want to work in an area where many people speak that language, write that down, and hope that the Electoral Commission sends you an offer.

Source: have worked at local, state and federal elections

      • Do you speak multiple languages?

        • Technically, yes.

    Yes. On internet

I googled 'work at elections' and found plenty from the AEC regarding work at elections. This Google thing is pretty useful, you should try it sometime

Appreciate that as you can probably see my question is much broader than that.

The broader the question, the easier it is to search for results yourself initially. Looking at the OP it looks like you've done no research at all and just want the answers given to you as you sit around and wait.

At least come up with more specific questions like what are the hours/conditions/long term job prospects are like, or show that you've tried to do some of the searching on your own but to no avail. E.g. you are more than welcome to ask 'what was it like working for the polling places today, was it easy and worth me looking into for the federal election?'

A lot of the time people come to OzBargain to ask questions and they could have had the answers earlier if they had genuinely tried to search for the information themselves instead of posting here and waiting for a response.

Tldr - don't confuse OzBargain's post button with Google's search button.

Going by the OP's post history, they take a lot from the community, but haven't contributed at all …

        • you clearly have too much time at your hand to write a big paragraph which clearly is not helpful at all !

          • @CheapSticks: You clearly have too much time on your hands if you are going to post in a forum asking simple questions that you can easily find online yourself in a fraction of the time.

Election jobs can be applied here
    https://www.aec.gov.au/employment/working-at-elections/index…

You register interest, every time there's an election in your area / state you will get email alerts telling there's opportunities available.

There is probably other companies if you google. Bar work is better than roadie work though (higher pay better hours)

    • thanks Sean. Much appreciated.

      • I used to do roadie work (setting up, packing down lighting and video), it's not really great work, at 38 years old I was the oldest person in the company and it soon became obvious why, but I was in between jobs and it kept me going for a few months. I worked directly for major lighting video company so the work was a bit better.
