Quite a good price for a 1TB portable drive with 3 year warranty without the WD bloatware included.

Officeworks = in store only.
Dick Smiths = free delivery.Some people prefer to shop in store with a retailer that constantly maintains price levels under DSE's.
If DSE deliver incorrect item , you will lose time and money to get it replaced. For a $49 phone I had to waste my 2 hours & few phone calls
not really a deal, what about this 2TB for $117: http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Dat…
That's not a portable one FYI
oops my bad.
So apart from the bloatware and the less sexy enclosure what are the advantages of the passport over this elements version?
I find the passport FEELS like a better build design for a portable HDD. I have one of these elements as well as a passport and find the the usb connector on the elements isn't that great while the passport version is really solid (I think that's important when I'm constantly disconnecting it to use elsewhere). However, I've had no issues with the element version on either my wii, my Samsung tv or any or my computers.
does this have a 2.5 inch laptop sized hdd inside?
or is it one of those double-stacked hdds which is super thick?
3.5 SATA HD
huh!
From website:
Casing size is 4.43" x 3.06" x 0.77" (19.6mm) and therefore should have the 1TB 12.5mm WD drive in them(not the standard 9.5mm drive).
I suppose you are talking about this?
