Couriers from Sydney to Victoria - 45kg Parcel

Hi guys,

Got screwed over by an ebay seller recently.

Tl:Dr
Bought a shoe rack on ebay. Came with damaged boards. Seller agreed to replace it. Changed their mind after the 30 day return policy.Ebay won't cover the return shipping because it's over 30 days.

I need to return the item to get refund from PayPal.

The item is around 45kg, Auspost doesn't do anything over 16. Star track only does B2B. Sendle Max weight is 25. Ebay said it can't be return via multiple deliveries, has to be a single tracking number.

Need help! Ideally nothing more than $80 for shipping.

Thanks in advance!

    .

  • Use the same courier company that delivered it?

    • I'll assume the seller used Startrack.

If the product was received in a condition different to what was advertised, try raising an eBay dispute.

If you haven't done so or cannot do so through eBay, and assuming that you used PayPal and/or a credit card for payment, raise a dispute there.

There shouldn't be any situation where you have to pay freight for a seller's problem.

    • I raised it with both Ebay and Paypal. But because it's been over 30 days since "purchase date" (not delivery date), ebay say they're not going to cover any expenses. Paypal said they can refund the cost for the item if i return the item, however, they cant pass the return shipping fee onto the vendor.

      • Did you raise your dispute as "item not as described"?

I'd be very surprised if eBay or PayPal reject your claim.

        • Yeah I did. But because it's over the 30 day guarantee period, ebay says there's nothing they can do to override their system. Their system doesn't let them open a dispute on 'expired' cases.

PayPal didn't reject it. They just said they can't force the seller to pay for the return shipping. They can refund the item cost but return shipping is on the buyer and not seller.

It's dumb and can easily be abused by dishonest sellers.

      • Just in case you didn't know, paypal will only refund you up to 45 dollars of the return shipping fee.

      • Should be 30 days from delivery date, not order date.

If you paid using your credit card as a funding source file a chargeback with your credit card company. It should be possible to obtain a refund via “item not as described”. You could also call the courier that delivered the goods and have them send it back using cash on delivery so the seller pays the cost of the return. It is likely to be cheaper for the seller to deal with the freight company they use as they will pay rates lower than you.

    You can also try transdirect.com.au

    • paypal is happy to refund the cost of the item if i send them a tracking number showing that i've returned the item, otherwise they're just going to just close the case. I'll try giving their courier a call. Im guessing im unable to use "cash on delivery" without the seller's approval? At this stage the seller's pretty much cut off all communication after saying they're not replacing the damage pieces, so im kinda forcing this return on him.

  • Take it to a pack and send and get a quote

    • thanks! i'll give them a shot

Pack and send was good last time and affordable too

    • thanks!

  • sendle - i use them for all my packages.

    • cant =( the package is heavier than 25kg. that's the pickle im in at the moment

  • Send them a registered letter. If it is damaged why would they want it back anyway - they'll probably just throw it in the bin.

    • I think that's called fraud…

  • Try e-go.com.au. Online version of hunter express. Super cheap for heavy items if the box isnt very large (ie: cubic metres), and if its not being delivered to the middle of nowhere.

If you used the depot-to-door option and drop it off at one of their sydney depots it'll be even cheaper.

I used to sell stuff on ebay a while ago and have used them hundreds of times.

    • Going through the booking phase i just noticed this. Its $132 for a tail lift service. So its pointless fo go down that route.

"Items over 35kg should be strapped securely to a skid or pallet and require a forklift to load and unload or a second person to assist our driver to load and unload the goods. If a forklift is not available or you cannot guarantee that someone is available to assist the driver to load and unload the goods, we recommend you elect to upgrade your pickup/delivery to a "Tail-Lift Truck" service, for an additional cost. We will call the sender/receiver prior to pickup/delivery to confirm our arrival."

  • What about freigting it in a bus? Premier Stateliner or similar.

  • Try yourfreightagent.com.au
I use them all the time and find their pricing good

  • I use https://www.parcel2courier.com - they offer freight on heavier items, likewise might need a tailgate service if you can't help load it into the truck

  • try www.smartsend.com.au I use that quite often. You may get lucky with cheap options.

  • You could always sell some of your shoe collection to cover the postage costs.
