2005 Ford Territory Power Window and Door Issue

I hope someone can assist.

My car's power window suddenly decided not to go up. When I opened the car to check it, the door also didn't close. The power window goes up probably by 5cm but then stops there. In relation to door, the latch is not getting locked.

It was raining heavily and somehow I managed to get to a mechanic but they couldn't help due to their closing time. They are also fully booked tomorrow and unable to check until Monday. I can't drive in such situation so will have to get it towed.

Any advice on how could I fix it without getting to a mechanic?

Raining heavily and the electronics in your car door suddenly not working? I'm gonna guess (with absolutely no expertise whatsoever) that water got into your door and electronics.

    • I was in hungry jack drive thru so I put window down to place an order :(

        what did you order?

Asking the important questions Mr altomic.

OP, you better have used the HJ vouchers on ozb

  • You can still drive it. Plastic, duct tape and instant window. Tape the door shut if you need to.

as for fixing it yourself, you could start with checking fuses and seeing if the wiring to the door is damaged. Other than that you’ll need to remove the inner door trim and go from there.

      clear plastic

  • Still the same with the motor running?

  • I can't drive in such situation

    Why not?

  • Tie the door shut. Run a rope if you have one from the inside arm rest to another anchor point in the car (maybe the oposite door).

    Tape up the wondow space.

Reccomend wait until the rain stops.

  • The door not closing is possibly related to the window not closing.
When the window stops at 5cm is motor still under load?

If it is, the mechanism is binding and the interior trim needs to be removed and the
interference fixed. Probably a job for a workshop. (or google…)

Very common problem. I fixed this exact problem for a family member not long ago. Watch the videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyqkQ3kh50U. Easy temp fix. When the window comes down too far you can see the metal bulge around the door lock mechanism. Typical Ford quality. Just don't let it go down all the way next time or buy a new part off eBay.

    • seven parts!?

      • Yeah, it's a bit ridiculous.

Ford Forums have many fixes for such problems, and they have a dedicated Territory channel. Have reviewed a number (small!) of minor issues with my Territory when I had one. Bit like OzBargain for Ford car problems!, there is often people with trade experience that can assist, and ofted do!.

This reminds me of my 1995 EF Falcon - so much ridiculous crap continually breaking, constantly.
