Wondering were you can snag the cheapest Windows 10 legit copy around not keen on spending >200 directly bought from MSoft or buying a bootleg code off eBay etc.
Cheap Windows 10

you can still activate it using an old Windows 7 key
Second this as the most sure-fire method.
A fresh install of 1809 (the latest Win 10 build) will activate with an old Windows 7 or Windows 8 product key as a digital entitlement or digital licence for the appropriate edition (e.g. Win 7 Home = Win 10 Home/Win 7 Pro = Win 10 Pro). I've done countless Win 10 installs like this recently (IT Managed Services provider), and they all activated and updated just fine.
Download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool and either create a bootable USB install media or download the install ISO if you want to then make a custom Win 10 image with something like NTLite. You can do in-place upgrades of Windows 7/8 that will retain all data/user profiles/programs if you can't be stuffed reformatting and reinstalling everything but they can fail a lot of time due to cryptic errors, and performance won't be as good as a clean install (you may also run into weird driver issues or crashes), so I recommend you do a clean install.
Can you please detail how this works?
Thanks
kitchen sink is right if you can get your hands on a win 7 or 8 key and you upgrade to 10 from there you'll generate yourself a fresh key
I got a cheap key from a key site. It works. It was only $4 so nothing to lose if it stops working.
Know any uni students? There’s a Microsoft program that gives students access to xp , 7 and 10 for free
This. Students can install Office 365 on about 4 machines or devices for free - and most students don't even know. Just ask the student to log into their Uni account on your device and then download and install.
If you don't know any Uni students and are happy to pay $15 or a six-pack, advertise on Gumtree to ask for a student to meet up somewhere with strong wifi and ask them to put a copy on your machine. Just take a set of ear plugs in case they start talking about their life.
Do you know what schools participate in the Microsoft program? My girlfriend goes to UTS but I can't see anywhere to get a copy of Windows 10 for her. The only option I can see is to download Office 365. Thanks
Try onthehub (google it). It should direct you to the UTS login and then offer windows 10 education.
I've just learned today that this Windows 10 Education license never expires either. And when linked to your usual Microsoft account, can be transferred to another PC as per retail licences.
Obtaining a legal retail version, you're looking at ~$165 for plain old 32/64-bit Home edition on USB media. You can wait for a sale and maybe get a few $ off that (via eBay) too. Many IT shops (eg MSY and CPL) list them on eBay, and forget to adjust prices during occasional promos.
Bought a cheap $10 key on eBay the other day after using the unactivated version for a while. Worked suprisingly, but seller seemed legit (as in, bought somewhere cheap or has a stock of OEM keys but is seller them in a way that'll get them recommendations, legit)
I'd link but OzB doesn't like that, lol.
Same here. Been using the unactivated version for a few weeks after building a new PC. Pulled the trigger on a $11 key from Ebay today. Almost instant delivery of the key and it worked. I rather save that $150 to upgrade something nice lol.
Yeah. Wanted to be able to personalise (got a second monitor recently) but $150 is way to much (hell, that's nearly the price of a 570 nowadays)
Same as you there, buyers had said instantaneous but I didn't expect it to come less then a minute after buying.
Yeah they are just bulk MSDN keys
I usually go on eBay and look up the key and go by lowest price, if u can’t find it on eBay au try us or uk
Search hardware id activation github you are welcome, install without key and presto done
If you want free, you can install it and not activate it: https://www.howtogeek.com/244678/you-dont-need-a-product-key…
