Seems like a pretty good deal!
Never personally used one myself, so unsure on the quality.

Yeah I've had two dead (budget) SD cards in my two, cameras still going strong (one is a black car too).
on the flipside, i'm in WA and my standard $10 sandisk ultras from officeworks are working fine.
Haven't had any probs with a SanDisk card.
@Mrbean007: Is it endurance?
@lovepub: No just a standard SanDisk ultra 64g.
The card will be the problem. When it comes to dashcams, don't skimp on the card.
Pretty average price tbh. Has been as cheap as $35 in the past. $55 is standard. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/xiaomi-70mai-dash-cam
I've had one for 1 and a bit years. I like it, works fine, and now the sound is in english.
$35 is chinese version
$55 is international version

does anyone know if you can play back your footage from your phone?
Yes, there's an app and the dashcam has a wifi hotspot functionality that you can connect your phone to (direct to dashcam to access videos/photos, no internet).
nice. there have been a few times where coppas have pulled me over and i say go pull over the (profanity) in front of me for driving like they're drunk or being (profanity) but have no proof.
Yeah this will let you show them that footage. Not sure how well it'd go down with the police though… I try to stick to a "smile and nod" philosophy myself.
@HighAndDry: as a teen i played (profanity) the police role and abused police officers because they would pull me over all the time because of my shitbox. Now I play the smile and nod like you and get away with most things i do wrong.
@HKS: Your not driving a shitbox undoubtedly has a lot to do with the that. 😂
Not sure if there's anyone experienced this before, the video that I download from this Dash Cam to my phone seems to be muted.
There's an option to turn on or off sound recording. For legal reasons, it's usually safer to not have sound recording, but obvious differs from case to case.
In what way can the audio be incriminating?
There's two parts to it. One is that it can be incriminating (if it records you having a phone conversation, even handless, it could suggest you're distracted, for example) but more it's that you can legally record video of anything in public, but the recording of audio is less black and white, legally.
@HighAndDry: of course, I wonder why video is legal in public but different states have consent laws around audio recording.
I was thinking about mounting my front cam & rear cam on the same window to get the single cab as well but as you said may incriminate me if distracted. May also make me a better driver ;)
I've had mine since mid last year (bought the camera and sd card from aliexpress). No problems with the recordings or with my micro sd card. The card never fills, just overwrites the older stuff. I have a SAMSUNG EVO+ Micro SD 64GB U3 100MBs in it. Voice commands don't work but will randomly take photos/turn sound recording on and off from the radio (???). And can't turn the voice notifications off, only to low volume. The app is pretty easy to use, connect to the camera with wifi. Good budget dash cam to set and forget (until you need it).
I'll add to this, that I actually dislike the app. Yes it's simple, but I've always had fairly regular buffering during video playback in-app, to the point I find it easier to pull out the SD card and chuck it into a PC/laptop or my phone and browse the files.
The voice commands are shit, rarely work when intended, and often trigger with music/talking. In the latest firmware update (a month or two ago) you can now disable voice commands. I've done this.
A 32GB SD card gets roughly 3 hours of footage.
The video quality is good during the day at 60km/h, you can even read number plates sometimes. However, at 100km/h footage becomes pixelated and you can only read large signs. Still good enough quality for dashcam purposes though
One thing I wish it had, was ability to manually trigger a save/emergency recording via button. The voice commands allow for this, but don't work because the voice commands are shit.
edit: also some cars when they start up, the power to the cigarette lighter/power socket may cut out for a split second as the engine turns over and starts up. This can affect this camera in that the camera may 'randomly' fail to start/record. The camera needs to be powered down completely then powered up again to get it working. This can be worked around by using a more reliable power source, such as perhaps a usb port on a radio headhunit.
I've been having issues trying to install the latest firmware, did you do it via wifi or by physically plugging in the cable to a computer? I'd like to disable the voice commands too since they don't work.
The trigger recording with a big bump (e.g. pot hole or driving into a gutter) emergency recording is a good feature - but I agree that a trigger would be good.
Update has to be downloaded to your phone first, before connecting to camera. Then connect to camera and update camera.
To download the update, open app and go to menu in top left. My Devices. 70mai Dash Cam. Firmware Update.
Then connect to camera and do an update.
Also the change log in the latest update seems to suggest that they fixed the power start up issue I mentioned previously. Will need to try and test that
I would recommend paying the additional ~$19 and going with the pro version (https://www.gearbest.com/car-dvr/pp_009541553853.html) upgrade from a 2MP sensor to a 5MP sensor (Great review of the pro version can be found here: https://youtu.be/vtFsd-8Vt1w … and the non pro version here: https://youtu.be/D_W3827xSSs.
based on some other comments regarding the voice commands, how pesty is the pro version? Can turn the voice notifications off?
I am not sure, my recommendation was based purely on specs vs price
Has anyone got experience with this and a blueskysea B1W for similar price? Would love to know which one is better for being able to capture better detail. Both seem quite easy to use via their apps and are similarly priced
Or maybe pay USD32 instead? https://www.banggood.com/XIAOMI-70MAI-Smart-Car-DVR-EU-RU-Ve…
Not sure what the difference is between the "International" version and the "EU" version.
If anyone wants to get the Chinese version, i have the english firmware for it

Thank you for the upload i was on 1.0.3
International version now seems to be US$37.99 at Gearbest.
Had one for almost two years….
Works ok.
Only problem is my sd card keep needing formatting.
Yes, I didn't use a endurance card , in QLD, the heat is pretty bad. But unsure if it might be related to the dashcam
