Recently bought a Venus flytrap and need to watered it, and a friend told me recently that the water that comes out of the water heater’s pipes should be distilled. Just wanted to know if that’s true or not?
Is The Water That Comes out of My Water Heater Distilled Water?

no
Try this. It should keep your VFT well watered for a long time.

"Venus Fly Traps and all other carnivorous plants should only be watered with distilled water, rain water, reverse osmosis water (from an RO system)."
I guess rainwater would be your easiest option?
Rainwater if you have a tank, or buy some distilled water at the supermarket.
Your water heater just heats the water, distillation is turning it to steam and condensing into another vessel so that the less volatile components are left behind.I think the OP is talking about the condensation drip pan tube.
Australian tapwater is generally low in calcium. You can use many Australian tapwaters for venus fly traps quite successfully. Melbourne water is quite good. If you are concerned, put it out during the rain to flush buildup. Don't let it buildup and concentrate through evaporation by overwatering a bit and letting it drain the excess off (don't just keep topping it up and let it evaporate, flush it a bit). Plenty of sun, good european peat and tapwater are fine.
but my kettle full of white stuffs from calcification
i poured some into my car coolant tank, hopefully it's fine
Sounds like you are in a hard water area, Queensland from your profile. If drips of water leave calcium marks, yeah I would avoid using it for watering plants. Venus flytraps like a dormancy cold winter period anyhow to be happy :p so maybe Quensland isn't ideal.
If you want to purchase distilled water, Big W sells it:
https://www.bigw.com.au/product/refresh-industrial-steam-dis…Funny the bottle says Demineralised but the add says Distilled which is different.
I also got confused myself, but if you zoom into the image, the label has a sub-heading:
Ultrapure steam-distilled water
Strange technically can't be both but a lot better to sell distilled water as demineralised water rather than the other way around.
Or an Essential Oil Maker like the Air Still (or T500), which has other benefits. ;-)
No. But if you have a Air con the water that condenses and drains out of that should be pretty pure if the system is clean.
Could be if you have a Heat Pump Hot water heater and you're looking at taking the condensate off the condensor unit.
But if you're talking about taking hot water then no, it's pretty much the same as water from the cold tap.
No.
