Borders had a big advertisement in todays Daily Telegraph (Sydney newspaper) saying all stock was now 50-70% off in the stores they are closing. Books are now selling at 50% off.
No doubt they will reduce prices more from here, but the range will not be as good as the clearance goes on. I dropped in to the Macquarie Centre store on Monday & the shelves still had quite alot of stock.
Might be worth a visit if anybody wants savings on Australian published books that might not be available from Amazon or Book Depository at bargain prices.
The stores closing are Chatswood, Hornsby, Kotara, Macarthur Square, Macquarie Centre, Parramatta, Tuggerah, Garden City, Camberwell, Doncaster, Geelong, Highpoint, South Yarra, South Wharf, Adelaide and Brisbane.
Yeah, but even with 50% off the prices are still a ripoff; most books are actually cheaper elsewhere at full price! That's why they still have lots of stock.
Plus the whole 'not honouring giftcards because they're in receivership' thing is weak! The way this whole thing's been handled is a bit crook I reckon, I smell a rat in the bookshop!!!
