2016 Santa Fe Elite Vs 2018 Peugeot 3008 Active

Hi,
I was hoping to get some opinions about what others would do it this situation. We've had a Hyundai Santa Fe since new (2016 Elite model). We've been offered a flat trade for a brand new Peugeot 3008 (2018 Active) model.
We're in mixed minds about it - there's nothing wrong with the Santa Fe, but we're just worried about resale now that it's a bit older. We don't need the 7 seats, and both have similar functionality (the Santa Fe probably has a few more bells and whistles.
What would you guys do in this situation?
Thanks
Luke

Keep the Santa Fe and drive it into the ground. It will always be depreciating, best thing you can do is drive it for 10 years to get the most value out of it.

Have you driven the Peugeot? Gutless engine, you'll feel like you've downgraded

  • Isn't the Peugeot a rebadged Mitsubishi outlander?

    • that's the old outlander - pre~2011

Why would you trade in a 3 year old car because you are worried of future resale? You have probably already taken a 40% hit on the resale. It can only slow down from there.

  • Shouldn't the fact that they are willing to do a flat trade for an older car tell you all you need to know about Peugeot and their resale? Never buy anything french if you value resale and want things to actually work.

    Stay away from French junk.

  • Keep the Santa Fe. If you are worried about depreciation, then do not buy a French made shitbox. Your Hyundai will hold its value better over the long term. You have already borne the greatest hit to resale on your Santa Fe, better to keep it, as the depreciation will slow. Swapping it for a French shitter will only hasten the devaluation.

Thanks everyone. The consensus here is quite clear. We've decided to keep the Santa Fe due to everyone's advice.
Thanks all, we feel comfortable with the decision now.
