Please be aware that's imported stock. We have genuine Australian stock covered by Panasonic Australia, and we're also offering a free screen, cable or mount.

      • +1

        that's why a didn't vote -ve… it does still come with 12 months warranty…

if i spent so much on a projector, i'd want to get a proper screen, not a cheapie worth the same as a HDMI cable…

        • +3

I'll let you in on a little secret jv, we'd prefer it if you took the HDMI cable. ;)

On a more serious note, many people are upgrading their existing projector set-ups and do appreciate the cable option.

        • -1

seriously… would you recommend the freebie screen for this projector ?

    • +2

…which is non-AU stock and doesn't come with the screen.

      edit: doh, beaten by 12s!

If you really want imported stock then it is probably even cheaper buying direct from overseas. The ozbargain offer is for australian stock. I want to know if an extended warranty is possible from hot.com.au or from Panasonic.

edit: AND the ozbargain offer includes a screen which the other shop does NOT.

AND the ozbargain offer includes a screen

you seriously think that screen will do this projector justice ????

      • I am projector noob. What would be the problem with that screen??

        • There is absolutely nothing wrong with that screen. It's the standard manual pull-down screen we sell with all our projectors.

        • +1

there may be nothing wrong with it, but i bet with a HD projector, if you put the cheap screen and the premium screens side by side, you'll notice the difference…

i listen to Scott Wilkinson's podcasts quite a bit, they do home theatre reviwes and often emphasize not to skimp on the screens…

    • Thanks for getting in their fast about the Aussie warranty. :)

We don't offer any extended warranties on this model ourselves, we recommend you contact Panasonic Australia direct for a genuine 1, 2 or 3 year warranty extension. You can also call them on 13 26 00.

        it says

so you can't get them now…

great projector, great price, and a ceiling mount…. big plus vote!

  • The warranty on the lamp is only for a year…

How much are replacement lamps ??? you don't have them listed on your site ???

    • +2

It should be listed in the "Suggested Options" section. The Panasonic AE4000E replacement projector lamp is available for $388.88 before shipping.

      • thanks..

    • Beaten by OP. That's a pretty good price for a genuine lamp from Australia.

1600 lumen is pretty poor. You will need a very dark room to use this projector. :( -neg on product, not deal.

    • Wrong. This will still look great in a mildly lit room(I had a 1200 lumens projector that was fine). Anyone thinking they can make any projector look good in a bright room(sun light etc) is just kidding themselves and shouldn't bother.. This a 'Home Theater' projector! Home Theaters are dark, or they're pointless… If you want 50000 lumens, get a data projector.

      • Yes, theaters are dark, so this will be fine in a dark room. A mate of mine has a benq 720p 1700 lumens projector and it is annoying until about 8pm even though there are no windows in that room, just some down the hall. If you can make your room dark then you can use it whenever. It is very annoying to have a restriction on when you can use an expensive piece of equipment. People should be aware that they may need to spend more on curtains or blinds etc to fix that. Btw 3500 lumens is great, 2500 lumens is ok. Below 2000 is annoying in everything but a dark room. By all means I you have a dark enough room go for it.

        • +1

For sure, people without the necessary light block-out blinds will also be disappointed. You can get great blinds which have a shutter type frame, these literally black out a room and are fantastic if using the projector during the day. I really don't think its worth spending good money on a projector unless you go all the way with a dedicated room.

    • Lol, you need a TV instead. Don't neg a deal because you do not understand that projector is NOT meant to be used in a brightly lit room.

      • i didn't neg the deal, it's just my personal thought that these projectors are not bright enough and i thought i should highlight that they are not suitable in anything other than a dark room.

        • Would you watch a movie in a cinema that's not in a dark room?

Using a projector needs a dark room, that's a real common sense almost like 'you'll need a license for driving a car'. :)

    • You can get greyish screens for using projectors in daylight. They cost a premium tho, but your projector is for hometheatre cinema movies lights off feel, not for watching home and away.

Its a shame its not 3D tho, that would of been a killer price.

  • While on the topic of projectors in this price range(ish).. If you can stretch it, check out the JVC DLA-HD250 DILA $3100.

I've seen this thing(and other JVC DILAs)in action, it blows away every LCD or DLP projector I've witnessed(a few in my time too!).. Blacks are fantastic, the colours just pop. My next projector.

    Pros:
This is a great project with very good brightness and motion.
Memory saving for different zoom or aspect ratio settings. I think it's built in anamorphic lens as well.

    Cons:
The black levels and colour is not as good as the JVCs.

I own the JVC HD550 and I was comparing to this Pana. It took me half a year to research on different available projectors at in the end i went with the JVC as I appreciate better picture quality. I wouldn't suggest using a pull down screen as it will cause ripple on the sides after an extensive use. Go for a wall mount or get a really expensive Morgan pull down screen. If you have a wall dedicated for HT, you can paint it with screen Goo which works the same as an expensive screen.

Stop comparing HT projectors with those data projectors. Best way to know which is best is by comparing the projectors at a showroom. Tech specs can be very misleading.
