Can I check Aldi prices online?

It would make my grocery shopping much easier. I would be able to divide the stuff that I have to buy from Aldi or coles

They used to have prices online a few years ago but stopped doing it claiming the cost to do so was too much and would push up prices.

    • Right that makes sense. They have to compensate for reduced from somewhere

  • You could call each store by phone. Or create a spreadsheet which is what I'm planning to do.

Frugl compares Coles and Woolies, here is an example of coffee:

You could call each store by phone

Really? For each product? I doubt they would give me the price if I have a list of items. How would I even know what they stock. May as well just stop by and have a look yourself and write the price down.

      • Not for each product, just special buys mostly.

You would call each store by phone for special buys pricing when they're listed in the catalogue and online?
          '?

          • @Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Only for stock levels

(edit) someone mentioned below phoning is not an option so you'd have to visit each store to check stock levels. Do some items have redued prices over time to clear them out?

    • Do Aldi stores even have phone numbers to call?

None of my local stores in Vic. do.

All part of Aldi's policy to save time and keep prices down - no need to employ someone in each store to answer phone enquiries.

We do not give out store phone numbers otherwise we would need someone on the phone all day taking calls on stock availability.

I mean, you could got to their website and see if they have the prices? Or try Google? Did you think there was some hidden website with the details that they keep under lock and key? lmao

Post items here and I will check next time I go to Aldi. (Although I am not a regular shopper there)

    • Really? Thanks a lot!

Here it goes - Veggie burgers (lentils/potato etc), yogurt, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, frozen peas, potatoes, carrot, garlic powder, flour, eggs, banana, appple, iced coffee
Just the cheapest price of any variety is fine

      • Lol

        • It was worth trying haha

Produce prices change each week and are different between states. Plus produce specials each week are different between the states too.

        • at least start again with non-produce items :/

      • Haven't got to Aldi yet, but still off to a good start. 1kg Dairy Cream Greek Style Yoghurt $3.99

        Also -

        Shiraz Merlot $2.85
        Soy Linseed Bread $2.49
        Toilet Tissue $7.99

        • Veggie burgers - no idea, but Aldi will be the same or cheaper.
        • Yogurt - their cheapest is cheaper than the other two.

You have to compare fruit and veg at all 3 every time. However…

        • Onions and carrots usually cheaper at Aldi.
        • Mushrooms $10/kg in 500g containers.
        • Banana prices are all over the place. All 3 stores have to be checked every time.
        • Apples are often cheapest at Aldi, $2.50/kg in a plastic container, but not always.
        • Potatoes are cheaper 80% of the time. (Coles is usually the most expensive.)
        • Whole garlic is usually $20 or $21/kg at Aldi, but goes off before I use it all. So I buy the 375g $4.99 jar of CHOPPED garlic (NOT minced) by 'The Food Company' at Woolworths instead, which = $13.31/kg. Not as good as fresh, but close. But acceptable considering the price and no more waste. Note: Don't tighten their lid down hard - it always 'lets go'.
        • Frozen peas the same at all 3: $1.99 (or $2) for 1kg.
        • Flour $0.99/kg. The other 2 matched this price for a few years, but they've increased a little lately.
        • Eggs are cheaper, at $1.99 for 600g, and $2.89 for 700g.
        • Iced coffee… what… milk!? It will be the same or cheaper at Aldi anyway.
      • Still haven't got to Aldi, but this may help Website with Full Price List for ALDI

  • No they don't. But I'm with you, I wish they did - i don't have an aldi near me and Im sometimes tempted to drive to aldi to see if there's anything on sale that week that would make the drive worth it.

  • Actually, I thought I had bookmarked a site that listed Aldi prices, planning to look more closely later… But I can't find it now.

I used to check the price of every single item at all 3 stores. And still keep a spreadsheet (with prices) of the items I buy regularly, so I don't forget things when making a shopping list. But I found the time and effort comparing prices on every item, every shop, wasn't worth the only 1 or 2 items where Aldi was more expensive. (Even then it was often < 50 cents more.)

The basic rule which is accurate 95% or better, is the Aldi price will be the same, or lower - except when the others have the RARE sale where their price goes lower. i.e. Their regular sale prices only equal the Aldi price, not better it - only RARELY their prices are lower.

So my general rule now is, buy everything that Aldi you need, because in the price is nearly always equal or less. Then compare prices at the other two to buy the rest.

This might cost me $2 more a fortnight but it saves an hour of checking prices. Which means less time/stress not checking two-thirds of my grocery list prices.
