Are There Still Any Good 4.5 Inch Phones on Market?

Hello,

My 3.5 Samsung Galaxy A3 stopped working and looks like I would need to buy a new phone.

Because I like the size I would prefer to find a good and not expensive (max $400) phone. When I am searching online it seems that majority of phones these days are with a big screen 5.5 inches +. I even checked aliexpress or gearbest found / was recommended Umidigi A3 or Nokia X6. Would prefer to be a bit smaller but if I wont be able to find 4.5inch I might go for bigger ones.

Could you please recommend any decent and quality phone for under $400 and with 4.5 inch screen?

Thanks a lot:)

What's wrong with an extra inch? ;)

    • can make it that little bit uncomfortable…
      .

i'm using a 4.3" S4 mini and I still find it too big i.e. awkward to sit when in pocket etc.

      • You must be working with one tight pocket…

xperia xz1 compact, but you have to buy from overseas, and around 450 minimum. otherwise, no. didn't you know, people hands are all growing at twice the rate of their brains! We'll all be able to fly soon at this rate just by flapping!

    • people hands are all growing at twice the rate of their brains!

This implies people's brains are growing, which is being far too generous imo…

    • That's as low as it'll go despite ageing. It's about cost price and stock is dwindling combined with a cult following.

I would also suggest XZ2 compact, the screen size is bigger but mostly because of the aspect ratio.

    • Yes:) Looks like all manufacturers are pushing only a big phones and forgetting about people who like it small:)

If you don't care about having the latest features, the iPhone 8 is only 4.7 inches apparently, and should be going for chips these days.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 is even smaller at 4.6 inches too.

Solid suggestions, I would also like to add to the LIST:
        - iPhone SE
        - iPhone 8
        - Sony Xperia Z5 Compact
        - Sony XZ1c
        - Sharp Aquos R2c
        - Allview X1 Xtreme Mini
        - Samsung Galaxy Alpha

…I was mainly looking for phones that are ~65mm's wide or less, so that they are actually physically medium/small and not prone to trickery but an adjusted display's aspect ratio. Not looking into prices because they can fluctuate immensely, already in this niche. Also was looking for somewhat modern components, though the choices really are slim (pin intended).

        • Thanks for this list. Appreciate it.

@Kennard: No worries, just wished I could find any more. I'm kind of a nerd when it comes to phones, so if you want to know anything (or any other list) just fire my way.

    • Yes these 2 are pretty hot candidates:)
      Thanks

Need to factor in body to screen ratio

Sharp R2 Compact is smaller than your A3 but comes with 5.2" screen

So it's not the number of inches, just how they're used?

      • It's not the length, it's the girth
