Flooring Dispute - Who to Escalate

Hello Ozb,

I recently (8 months back) got a bamboo flooring from a store and also got it installed from them. The layer was organised by the store.

Since the installation, the bamboo flooring is lifting up on top edges and not on the sides as it usually happens. There is enough lifting that can cause harm to kids or someone unkowningly stumbles on it.

This is an issue since last 4.5 months and I have been calling up the shop, everytime I call the guy I have been speaking makes excuses i pretext of being with a customer etc. The issue continues to be there and i have been calling almost on a weekly basis. W
I am pissed at their attitude of resolving the issue and now have crossed my patience levels. I need to escalate this to like a consumer board or someone to get this to a conclusion.

Please suggest who do I legally reach out

Have you been to seen them, perhaps when they have a few other potential customers in store?

Put your complaint in writing to management first and detail what you've done so far (ie, tried numerous times to contact them by phone).

In your complaint, detail exactly what the problems are in a factual way (avoid expressing too much emotion) and provide them with a reasonable timeframe for them to get back to you. Also let them know that if a satisfactory resolution cannot be reached, then you'll be escalating to the relevant government body.

Keep a copy of the correspondence.

Never walked into the shop to have a direct 1-on-1 with management?

    • No I did not. Will do this week

Definitely go in person to the shop to discuss the issue - ideally with other customers in the shop who may "overhear" the issues you are having.

    1. Write an email to the manager. Attach pictures and details of what is happening, your disappointment with the lack of communication and a detailed but firm set of actions that you want taken.

    2. Randomly drop in one day. Ideally, a Saturday so other people might hear. Follow up on your email and arrange for him to come in. Once the date is agreed, send a reminder everyone is busy people "forget". Besides if it goes further this will help.

    3. If nothing happens, write a letter send it via registered post (that way they have to sign for it) and threaten to go to the xTAC ("x" being your state) if you don't hear from them within 14 days.
