seems cheap compared to Supercheap (https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/osram-osram-intense-head…) for this two pack of H7 bulbs. $79.99 at Supercheap at the moment.

Not bad but this seems the average price in UK. Reduced to sub $20 at the moment.

    $29.39 for the H4 set: https://www.amazon.com.au/OSRAM-64193CBI-HCB-Intense-Headlam…

  • Are these street legal?

  • Better price than Power Bulbs ($29.32 inc discount and delivery)

    https://www.powerbulbs.com/au/product/cool-blue-intense-h7-t…

    • What about in GBP? Their audience conversion is dreadful.

Blue tinted globes actually put out less light output than white light output globes.

I always buy from PowerBulbs - they are very reputable.

    • Not necessarily. I used to run Phillips +100s, and they have a blue tint, but have far superior light output.

    • I have these exact bulbs, bought last year for £14.79 from Powerbulbs. They are not blue, just bright white. So far they last me longer than Phillips WhiteVision. They are definitely brighter than the stock bulbs. Very pleased with them.

  • So it better to go h4 cos it has 2 filaments low and high?

    Bit confusing.

These will not be ANYWHERE near as white as the advertising pictures make it look like.

I run Phillips WhiteVision 4100k, and while they are definitely closer to white than the factory Hyundai bulbs, they are still yellow.

    • Phillips colours are all over the place. I have bought WhiteVision bulbs which had 3700K, 4100K and 4300K on the packaging. Same bulb, same colour light, different country of manufacture. Phillips says it's because some models in the range are brighter than others (vague explanation).

But yes, yellow, compared to HID and LED. But much whiter than stock.

White halogen has poor visibility (as a driver) but it does give an illusion that it’s bright especially you’re looking at it.

That’s why generally halogens are designed to have yellowish tint from factory.

White xenon lights are differently entirely because it has much higher output than normal halogens.

Unless you want the cool factor, the whiter the halogens, the less practical they are for driving.

to me, causing glare to other drivers — and some are more susceptible to it than others — isn't cool at all.

I agree. It seems if your windscreen is a bit old and has lots of scratches from the wiper blades, the glare problem is worse. I've had occasions when an oncoming car with blue-tinted bulbs has caused my windscreen to effectively "white out".

        • +1

you can polish the glass and that will take a lot of the scratches out, but won't help if you've got lots of pitting from stone chips.

One thing's for sure: you will never get white light from any halogen bulb. Doesn't matter the brand, type, what's claimed on the box (WhiteUltraExtremePure performance!). It's slightly less yellow than a bog standard halogen that lasts a lot longer.

Buy a car with factory fitted LED or HID if you want true white light.

  • Mind a noob: I noticed although these are halogen bulbs but still they emit white light. And i want to order Led bulbs for for honda accord. So is there any benefit of ordering this product over the led bulbs?

Just FYI for anybody interested the Supercheap Calibre 130 plus globes are repackaged GE Megalight Ultra +130s, $16 more than Powerbulbs but at least if they pack up within 12 months you can get another set under warranty, this set has been in about 6 months, they are the best for light output from the ones I've had previously:

Philips Extreme 130 plus, lasted about 9 months.

Narva Plus 100 , lasted about 6 months (repackaged Osram Nightbreaker)

    • Interesting, do you have a source for that? Not trying to attack you or anything, just haven't ever heard of this before.

      • They use the exact same part number as the Megalights, and look identical save the silicon washer colour.

In the case of the Narva they were branded Osram globes.

  • na no thanks. put a lightbar on the front of your car if you want good lighting at night

  • Would anyone recommend this? thinking of replacing this for my stock headlight (VW Polo 2018) and presumably I will need a good H1 light as well for high-beam.
or should I go with the more costly HIDs?

Retrofitting HID is generally illegal. This bulb is good (if you need H7). It's not blue, but white.

      • thanks! I was recommended LED instead by a mechanic just yesterday, not sure how good they are. and there is also a decoder..??

        • Phillips sells good retrofit LED (Ultinon), but these are only fit for reflectors, not projectors. And they can't answers the question of legality.

  • There are some incredibly annoying white lights that cars have had for several years now that dazzle me even at low beam and cause me to squint.

Are these the same? I'm in the mood to piss off my follow motorists and these seem cheap.

    • +4

If they are truly white, they are either illegal bulbs, like Phillips DiamondVision, or they are illegal HID conversions.

A HID conversion in a car with reflector headlights is basically the same as putting big stickers on the side of your car saying "I am a major f#ckwit"

  • These are $20.99 now

    • Tell me about it haha

      • If you bought them at the higher price, Amazon are generally good when prices drop. Chat a rep, explain that you bought them and the price then dropped, they will usually credit your account for the difference.

Have done this quite a few times with US Amazon, but not yet with AU so hopefully it's all the same. If you do, can you report back and let us know how it worked out?
