Device for Playing Whitenoise 24/7 with AC Power?

Been using old phone for white noise for the little one for over 2 years now.

Today I realise the battery is swollen, so time to throw it away and look for a new one. Looking at ebay, those so called geunine Samsung battery are like $10, which pretty much mean they are fake anyway.

Since a mobile phone can't just plug it to wall plug without battery, Is there any alternative that is an android with speaker, that only use AC power so i don't need to worry about another swollen explosive?

  • Since a mobile phone can't just plug it to wall plug without battery

Are you sure? Older Nokias used to be able to be used without battery when plugged in. Also a $10 battery for older devices isn't necessarily fake.

There's also several white noise dedicated machines on eBay around $15-30 so have a look if that suits you better.

    • Yes, at least on my samsung note 3

  • The MacGyver solution is that the battery usually has a ground, +3.7 volts and a thermistor, faked with a resistor. They are relatively simple to convert to a DC power source.

    • Wait, are you suggesting OP MacGyver something he's going to be plugging into mains power?

      • Yes. Using an isolated plugpack and ~5V, what's the issue?

        • I have no electrical knowledge or experience so I'm probably a little overly-paranoid, but that just sounds slightly dangerous. But you're right, OP would still be using the original charger/power-brick…

Google Home mini. But you need wifi and internet. You can play animal sounds, games and music too. find your phone and more

Someone was giving away one BNIB for free on a FB free group and I missed out by 1 minute :(

    • For Google home mini, what kind of music I can play from it? I will need to purchase a white noise music from Google music in order to play on the google home mini?

I know that I can cast all audio of my phone to Google home mini, but that mean my phone needs to be connected and have the app running all the time. I prefer a standalone solution

  • A little fan.

I may be simplifying it too much, but what about a radio that isn't tuned to a station?

  • Buy a white noise machine

Can I ask, is there any medical reason why you play white noise to your kid, especially by 2yo? I just feel like it'll be a crux that they won't be able to get away from later on

    • We live in a small place and the white noise is to mask the noise I make at night after he went to sleep.

There's no medical reason. You are right about he getting used to it and can't get away from it though….

  • this on aliexpress is usb charged, so you can plug the usb cable into a charger and have it sitting there. Or buy two and recharge them at work.

    • Try to avoid anything that have battery in it. Otherwise I would just get a cheap battery from ebay and hope for the best.
