Anyone here has booked car rental online in France?
Going to Paris next month, but not sure which website is the best to book.
Google hasn't been helpful so far.
Thanks in advance.

no, only for a week
I've haven't hired in France, but had a quick look at VroomVroomVroom.com
All the major hire firms are represented, with a rating for each firm.
I would shortlist some based on car type, cost, and then start to look at the hire firms terms / conditions.
I don't think it matters much if you book through Vroom or directly.
nice thanks

Neither the pseudo insurance offered by rental car companies nor the excess insurance included in travel insurance or with credit cards covers you for such things as:
You need third party car rental insurance such as that offered by Rentalcover.com that for approx $10/day gives you $100,000 of cover that includes everything included in car rental company insurance plus the items listed above.
Make sure that car rental has liability insurance in millions for injury and damage.
You should always rent through Oz consolidator company, especially if rental company is in non-English speaking country, because you can read the contract before you rent/pickup vehicle.
Rentalcars.com is good because during booking process you can add Rentalcover.com insurance. The last time I organised rental through them for friend insurance was about $1/day dearer than going direct but since rental was only for 7 days she decided to include insurance then and there so it was on same voucher.
As someone has mentioned above if you are going to Europe for at least 3 weeks you should lease a Citroen, Renault or Peugeot. Search for car company name plus word lease to find Oz companies that offer these vehicles.
You can pickup/return for free at many locations in France. There is up to $400 fee for pickup/return in surrounding countries; $200 in early/late bird periods. You get free days during early/late bird periods plus as loyalty bonus.
You do not need extra insurance for lease vehicles because they are 110% insured.
For example, 4 weeks ago while in Italy in a very, very narrow downhill street I drove up onto a front door step and dropped off the other side. The wheel arch trim popped, the rocker panel was crushed and the shroud inside the wheel well was displaced so it touched wheel. When I returned vehicle check-in man shrugged. That was it. No paperwork and no cost.
Previously, I have destroyed tyre on pothole. I drove to Renault dealership who contacted Paris. Tyre wasn't available on site and had to be couriered in overnight. Transport to hotel plus hotel with meals and wifi was provided free of charge.
I have been leasing cars in France since 1983. It is the greatest bargain on earth.
Wow thanks for these info, much appreciated
Lease cars can be driven in about 40 European countries.
If you’re there for a while leasing can be good. All the main French manufacturers offer it.
