Looks like a belated match for the HN deal. Great if you have Prime.

We've had the PS4 version before, this is XBox One.

Great price. Hard game to get into. Loved the first. This one just isn’t fun.

  • Definitely belated. Good for those that missed out the other day. Would've have preferred to make use of Prime and give Amazon the business. Would've have also saved me the drive!

  • Thanks OP. Ordered ONe.

  • Bought it first, did research about microtransactions later. Hopefully it doesn't ruin the game too much, I didn't find the first one that good but I have a four week old baby that I stay up late playing video games with so I've got time to burn.

      They patched the microtransactions out.

      • Ah brilliant - my work firewall doesn't let me go on gaming sites, so the only reviews I could see were on Metacritic. Thanks for the info, you've given me hope!

  • great game, i live shadow of mordor better though.

Awesome game, and the launch microtransactions have been removed.

  • Pile of shame too big, still have God of War/AC + many more to get through

    • Good to know.

God of war????? Put everything aside for that game… that’s a must play for everyone. The way the story unfolded was just beautiful… unlike even previous GOW

      • I also have God of War and Spiderman sitting in my wait list. I'm holding out for an upgrade to a PS4 Pro deal :(
I could be waiting a while

        • Ps5 will be announced before you make a move =)

    Thanks OP, got one

  • Does this include the expansions? If not, is it worth getting the PC definitive version instead?

  • Just finished this yesterday to clear my backlog. Solid game and if you're a fan of lotr universe this game is for you! These are a prequel to the movies and are canon to the series so I enjoyed the stories much more. The ending is awesome too.

    • When does it get good? I’m struggling and I’m about 3-4 hours in. Loved the last one and into the stories but this one feels like I’m walking through mud.

Imo it picks up after the first area. Once you go to war and build your army it gets better. The first area is essentially a tutorial. A good tip is to avoid fighting mobs. Only engage if you need to take down captains as you literally get no rewards for mobs, just run away from them. You save so much time following this rule.

        • Thanks. I’ll avoid them from now on. I think I’m about to get to there. That’s what I’m telling myself. How much time did you sink into it?

@Nikovegna: It took a while and that's only doing main quests. I think I was around the 25-30hr mark. With main quests lines and hardly any collectables or online fights etc. Another tip is not to get too invested in the army or forts. Because once this is done it opens up the other area, and you can guess what you'll be doing there. Just build enough to take down the fort and maybe a few extra captains just to be safe. Spend your money on upgrading them with weapons and mounts to give them more survivability. You'll have plenty. Be liberal with upgrades too because points are plenty especially if you do the memory missions.

  • I couldn’t get into the first game - is this any better or more engaging earlier in the game? I’m a Lotr fan but just couldn’t put time into the first.

This one is way more of a grind compared to the first, I dont think you'll get into it unless you enjoy that.

      • Thanks - it’s only $8 but will save the cash.

        • How much time do you need to get from a game for it to be worth $8? I would have thought even if you can sink just a few hours in it would be worth it.

          • @pdtmathieson: That's actually the smart approach though. What's the point of buying it if you'll only play it for only a few hours? It's like buying a movie cause it's cheap, just to watch the first 30 mins. Different story if this were a multiplayer game. You'd be better off saving the time and money for something else.

            • @manbearpig: I would have thought a few hours entertainment was worth $8? What other activity costs $4 an hour?

@pdtmathieson: @pdtmathieson: I could think of one that is much cheaper and more enjoyable now but turns out to be very, very costly and expensive later over a period of almost two decades. ;-)

@Lysander: Can confirm, currently have two limiting the amount of enjoyment I am getting out of my Xbox
