Thankyou very much!
Yeah 2gb is abit low. Just make sure you purchase a ssd drive and not hdd. You will regret it in a few months time.
As others have said definitely avoid 2GB ram it will lock up. Even 4 is low but should be O.K. for school.
Also, if you haven't already, set up a Microsoft child account (for logging in to Windows 10) under your Microsoft account as the parent. You can set time and app restrictions, internet filtering, etc.
Have a look at this one as well $159. To be honest you don't need very high specs except for gaming or video/graphics work. If the most taxing thing is Youtube, Education apps (i.e. Mathsonline) through the browser this machine will handle it fine. Also it's 4 GB. Give it a usable life of 2-3 yrs and then get another one at that time.

What! 8 yr olds must have a laptop for school now? Are teachers redundant now that google and youtube have taken over?
Meh. Flying Bali return in August for $176.
no, too expensive. and 2gb only.
buy this refurb machine instead for AU $143.10 delivered using code POST10
would you rather your kid comes home with a broken $295 (with code) laptop or a broken $143 laptop.
besides, the usage requires will be minor at that age.
also, I have 2 high school aged kids, and 1 primary. the number of times they have come home saying one of their friends has broken their laptop is worrying.
