Instant Messaging for Android That Will Work at Beijing Airport?

HELLLOOOO!!!!!!

Me and a friend have overlapping at Beijing airport next week, whats a messaging app we can both get up and running now that will work there? I'm having a bit of trouble installing WeChat cause I don't have a Chinese number or any Chinese friends that can verify me.

I have VPN through PIA but I hear it don't work in China and I imagine Beijing WiFi security is hard as nails.

WeChat installs just fine from the Play Store. All the comments I read about led me to believe it wouldn't though, including in the Play Store itself.

    You could try QQ chat. Although not sure if you still need a cellphone number to create one.

    Wechat is extremely popular in China, not only for social media, but for shopping and payment.
    Do try your best to install and get yourself connected.
    Start making friends with some Chinese here.
    In fact many non-Chinese have WeChat too.

    Hmm, installing WeChat was remarkably painless, just got spooked by comments section. Pretty sure I just gave Pooh Bear all my passwords though

    My friends were messaging me with Whatsapp via VPN use while they were over there including Bejing Airport. Seemed to work fine for them.

    you dont need chinese friends to install wechat
