Apparently my house will be ready for NBN from next week. Both TPG and Aussie Broadband has reached out to me.
Which one is better in terms of speed, customer service and less issues?
Thanks

But I will have to buy my own NBN router?
They also appear to have free router with other plans where you can get $20 off for 6 months.
I hate contracts. I bought a router from officeworks for $60 and use who i like.
Telstra modem is decent if u dont mind the price. No downtime as you have a mobile backup. That said my dad says the mobile backup is faster then plugged kn for him so he never plugs it in haha
Telstra 4G Mobile backup is capped at 6Mbps unfortunately, it's not something you want to use by choice. Your Dad may have had their cap removed inadvertently or something went wrong.
Vodafone have 12Mbps 4G backup.
@hamza23: He says it came back at 27 on telstra speed test? Idk then
One is value for money OK service (iinet/tpg) and one is expensive good connection (Aussie Broadband), it's all about what you after.
I wouldn't call iiNet "OK service"
First I had NBN with Transact, had no issues, then taken over by iinet. Few months later regular dropouts, slow connection.
Each time you complain, they come up with different excuses, fiber cable, ethernet cable, congestion etc.
And you need to ring the call center few times to get the message across. Does this make it OK or even worst?
I don't use internet that much at the moment, otherwise my next step is to sign up with AB, which will be $20 month more for same connection, and it will be better based on my neighbours.
That's what I meant - iiNet is far from OK service.
Especially since they've outsourced their support iiNet has seriously declined.
Used to be with TPG for NBN/FTTN. Switched to Belong and never looked back! Modem arrived next day after placing online order (came via overnight StarTrack courier service from Sydney).
Had about 4 hours of downtime (no internet) when the ISP switch actually happened.
Cancelled TPG (providing them with the 30 days cancellation notice prior to placing Belong order though I did plan it so there were a days of crossover to minimize downtime, was not in a contract with them). Placed Belong order on Wednesday evening and was all up and running Thursday afternoon!
It often depends on pure luck and your copper/fibre connection quality.
I was with TPG for about 2 years and never had a problem, cheap, top speeds all the time. Neighbour had constant dropout and slow speeds with them. They never managed to get it fixed.
I'm with Aussie now, a little expensive but no congestion and top speeds. Their Help Desk is snowed under however, which may not be a good sign, with waits of 1/2 hour+.
Keep away from Telstra, worst connection I ever had. Expensive, slow speeds, constant drop outs, congestion, and Help Desk support who lied and then denied what they had said when questioned. Had them to the Ombudsman twice before I told them where to shove their connection.
I vote for Aussie Broadband.
Maybe add a poll?
iiNet
Whistleout recommended Exetel
How much did Exetel pay for that?
$10
The correct answer is Aussie Broadband.
Very happy with Exetel
Have been with them 15 years, minor issues easily resolved, good customer service.
No idea why they remain so cheap but they are
I don't like TPG and its $20 deposit policy but to be fair NBN TPG is the most stable comparing with 2 other providers I used including Aussie Broadband.
When NBN was available at my place, I switched from TPG ADSL2 (which is stable and no problem at all) to Aussie Broadband NBN just because I hate TPG deposit and cancellation policy and don't want it to grow bigger and bigger :)). With Aussie Broadband, experienced drop out every few weeks ranging from less than an hour to a few hours. Phone support was prompt but it's usually nothing they can do as they said something wrong at NBN. After 6 months when discount stopped (don't remember if AB increased price or discount stopped) switched to Telecube which was cheaper, more data, same occasional drop out but less frequent than ABB. Then Telecube went out of business, switched back to TPG and no regret. No long time drop out, only disconnect and reconnect within a few minutes (maybe to renew connection and get a new IP?). Same speed as ABB, unlimited data so don't have to watch out on limit, international speed feel better than ABB.
go with exetel 59.99 with modem 12 months
This is my recent experience with AussieBroadband. I signed with AB in January as I had heard about their local support and customer focus. Evening connection speed is around 45mbps and there are more outages on NBN compared to my previous ADSL connection. Access to support joins a caller queue from 10-18 typically.
I had some trouble with the NBN activation and AB support (phone queue is usually from 10-18 callers) advised it was NBN's fault. NBN technician came after 4 days (during which time I had no internet access which impacted my home business) and said the connection to the modem was wrong. My understanding from AB support was that AB would refund the first month's payment for the trouble. Now I am in dispute with AB over the refund.
I am disappointed with AB after having high hopes of getting great service. Maybe AB has grown too big too fast. IMHO AB is not much differentiation from other NBN provider other than their local support (which is also offered by another provider).
Sign up for aussie for a free month. Its jn the deals atm.
If you decide you dont need all the speed ect churn to a cheaper one after your free month.
