Anyone know of any to buy in Australia?

If the laptop is overheating to the point of needing a cooldown, its either broken or a very poor design.
What games are you playing anyway?
It depends on how much he is willing to spend. My brother has a gaming laptop with an i7 7700 quad core and an nvidia gtx 1070, i recommended the cm storm sf-17 (https://www.jw.com.au/coolermaster-sf-17-laptop-cooler?gclid…) and he has not had any regrets. It is on the pricy side but his GPU stopped underclocking in his gaming sessions and his temps dropped by 20 degrees C (surprising considering he games in a room with no air conditioning). It works well with its 180mm fan and also has a four port usb2.0 hub (comes in useful since it consumes one usb port to power the fan and another to link up the 4 port hub)
If your friend would prefer usb 3.0, there is the sf-19 (https://cplonline.com.au/cooler-master-r9-nbc-sf93k-gp-sf-19…). It bumps it up to 4 usb3.0 ports instead and swaps the single 180mm fan for twin 135mm fans, but it does cost much more.
The downside of these options is that they are bulky and will raise the laptop itself and may become uncomfortable. My brother sort of uses it as a home dock and has a mechanical keyboard and mouse connected to the dock to compensate for the raised height, but that being said, if your friend is gaming on a laptop he probably already has a keyboard and mouse.
One of two hours sounds like the battery time you get when playing intensive 3D games. Just sayin … maybe buy a laptop power bank or something?
I know it sounds simple and stupid but ask your friend to open all his windows and doors to create good airflow and ventilation.
Even try asking your friend to direct a fan onto the laptop and himself at the same time.
Cooling pads do work a little bit especially if the default ambient room temperature is really hot but getting the room temp colder is the main priority aside from diying some risky iceblock stuff (see linus's "watercooled" mac youtube video where he submerged a "waterproofed" laptop in ice water… it worked but yeah highly advise not to do at home unless you prepared to destroy your laptop and potentially hurt yourself via electric shock)
Just get the cheapest cooling pad off ebay or search staticice.com.au or local pc retailers and just grab the cheapest price that fits his specific model.
I think your friend has other things to do, and is saying that to not make you feel bad.
