Searching for Owner of Lost Opal Card

I was in a station between Sydenham and redfern at approx 710pm and found an Opal card on the ground. On checking the balance, it had approx $50 balance on it.

I'm trying to find the owner of the card so I can return it.

If you happen to think you are the owner or know a person who lost a card given the above details, please provide me the approx balance of the card, the station you lost it in and the last 2 trips taken with the card.

Unfortunately the card is not registered so owner can't transfer balance to new card.

          Yep. Worth a try. I see a lot of commuters browsing ozbargain

          I'll try and find owner first since its not registered.

          It will likely be cancelled and money put back in circulation if I return to Opal

    Here's my guess:

    • $54.32
    • Erksineville
    • Erksineville to Town Hall, Town Hall to Eskineville

    Has the word "Opal" on it.

    How do you check if owner is 'registered' when you find an opal card.

    I have handed them in at train station. I want it to go back to the rightful owner… but if it can't go back to them (not registered) then I would rather spend it rather than OPAL company just pocketing the money.

      If you have an Android with NFC, you can scan the Opal card using the Opal Travel app

      Opal site will tell you when you enter the card number in whether it's registered or not. You can't register an already registered card.

      I called them today and they told me if it's not registered they can't verify the owner. They cancel the card and forfeit the credit. They proceeded to ask me what the card number was but I hang up.
