Where to stay in Santorini?

Looking for suggestions for hotels with a caldera view and private pool.

Comments

  • I haven't been (we are thinking of it) but just had a quick look at Booking.com, selected the caldera view towns (Fira, Imerovigli, Firastefani and Oia) and applied a filter for a pool. Plenty of results but you haven't provided travel dates or budget.

    • Thanks! I'm travelling May/June.
      Budget probably $400-$500 per night.

      Probably should have clarified that I'm hoping that I can get recommendations if anyone has stayed at any with the above :)

  • Hundreds of suggestions on google.

  • Watch youtube videos. I've watched some and there are two cities you travel between by bus, so need to pick the right one of two.

    • Thanks. I'm probably leaning more towards Imerovigli or Firastefani as I've heard that Fira and Oia are more expensive.

    • Make sure you watch Summer Lovers before going to Santorini.

    I stayed in Imerovigli and it was awesome.

    • Thanks :)
      Do you remember the name of the accommodation?

      • Just checked again, it was actually Firostefani. https://www.booking.com/hotel/gr/alta-vista-suites.en-gb.htm…

        • thanks! I'll have a look :)

          • @attl: It cost a lot, but was amazing. Cave rooms, 3 rooms in the entire place. You would place your breakfast order for the next morning and have a guy prepare it and bring it to you on your private terrace to enjoy the uninterupted view. Magical.

            • @2jzzzz: Sounds magical alright! =)
              Just have to fix our dates and hope it's available then.
              Any other tips if staying here?

    We were very happy staying here. Had no reviews when we booked, but was well worth the risk! Imverogli is the best place to stay I found, no cruise ship crowds, you can walk to the main town of Thira in about half an hour or hire a car to go to Oia (ridiculous crowds there at sunset, I felt it the sunset was good, but not worth the hype), hiring a car is the best way to get to the wineries as well. I think in september it was about 500-600 a night. if you are going all that way …..

    • Thanks so much for this! It looks amazing :)
      Just one question, was there a lot of steps to climb?

        no, if you google Nefeli homes, its right behind that.

        • thank youuuuu!

  • We stayed at Anastasis Apartments - I promise you, you will love it !

    Here's what Tripadvisor has to say ….. the review scores speaks for itself….

    • Those reviews are pretty amazing.

        I personally have not seen a hotel/resort with that kind of reviews;

        They have 1,257 reviews where 1,242 of them is Excellent - that's 99% of reviewers!

        Now there is one guy who gave it Terrible - because he didn't like the location. Well you can stay in town and be around literally hundreds of tourists but when you are at this hotel - gosh it is peaceful and beautiful. You absorb the whole environment - that's what you are there for right/ - minus the tourist (yes there are the occasional tourist that walks in front of the hotel because there is a walking trail to/from the cities - and walking on the cliff face seeing the gorgeous.

        Another posted gave it an Average score because their stay was ruined because it had rained for most of the week they were there - absolutely not the hotel's fault.

        So minus those two reviews, and its almost perfect scores.

    • just WOW ~
      did you book through their website?

      • +2

        Yes, we booked directly with them;

        The owners will then contact you to make sure everything that you need is catered for;

        The property is not brand new but comfortable, the small infinity pool is nice, the views naturally is amazing, but the service is out of this world … laying by the pool and being served complimentary ice teas / ice coffees / cakes / sweets / ice cream during the day. You can lay there all day and the very professional and discreet staff will adjust your sun umbrellas so you will be in shade all day - comfortable - enjoying the magnificent views.

        You must have sunset dinner at Amoudi Bay … the owners know the owners of all the restaurants there, and will get you the best tables right on the water - and then wait for the sunset , and your char grilled lobster ;)

        • Thanks! Will email them to check availability as well.
          Can't wait for my Santorini holiday already :)

    We stayed at Dreams Luxury Suites in Imerovigli in the Armonia Suite. Private pool, breakfast each morning on your own balcony with an awesome view. locations as others have mentioned a bit quieter, a nice walk down into Thira and some fantastic restaurants in the local area. Bus also stops right out front if heading to Oia etc. While you are thing high recommend the sunset cruise from this company

    One of th best experiences, especially if you prefer a quieter crowd as it's limited to 10-12 ppl. Captain Ted is actually from Australia and was a fantastic afternoon. Lunch on board which they cook along the way.

    • Thank you! Another fantastic suggestion :)
      Will also def check out the sunset cruise!

  • Stayed in Iliovasilema Suites in Imerogivli for our honeymoon 2yrs ago great spot!
