Kogan still the best prepaid mobile plan for calls in Australia?

Need to recharge or find a new prepaid mobile plan in 2 months.

Just need unlimited calls to any number in Australia.

Data usage preferably above 3gb below 6gb.

No need for international calls but would be maybe nice.

I like kogan because it is cheap between $12 and $17 a month and no bill shock or excessive fees or data excess fees (they stop you when you go over)

Is there anything better for less than kogan or is kogan still the best.

Does a $5/month unlimited calls and text within Australia even exist with maybe 2-3gb of data?

Just asking out of curiosity if you don't know just move on and leave the comments section empty please.

Thank you.

Try keep this thread useful for others who might be looking for the cheapest mobile plans within Australia with bill shock prevention and no excess data usage bs.

I know Aldi is pretty popular, its not as good as Kogan price wise though, but Kogan I think uses the Vodafone network while Aldi uses Telstra which I find so much better in places I live (faster, better call quality and higher coverage).

    • So far I have just found aldi and belong as being possible contenders for good cheap prepaid mobile plan options.

There are cheaper plans if you are happy to jump around and change providers…

e.g. "Catch Connect 90 Day SIM Only Plan for $15 (54GB, Unlimited Talk/Txt, New Sign Ups Only)"

  • The current Optus deal is pretty good.
Just bought two sims for my kids.
$120 (down from $180) for unlimited calls and texts for 12 months and 60GB of data (all of which is available from day 1 - so make sure you set your phone to limit it to 5GB per month).

  • Is it just me that I can't do hotspot with Kogan anymore?

    • I've always had weird trouble… but could never pin it down (IE would be so slow it would be unusable, but then speedtest on the phone itself was many mb/s)

      Never found out the cause

      Always works fine for me..

      • Sorry, what I meant specifically hotspot from Kogan sim card to my computer with exteral wireless USB.

        • I was using *a Kogan SIM in a USB modem plugged directly into me laptop a few weeks ago.
          Is your wifi modern unlocked?

I'd try using different USB/WiFi modems and phones, ofy that doesn't work give Kogan a ring, cause as far as I know there's nothing in the T&C that you can't hotspot, and I've given it a read

          *Ok dozens….
