what is special in this worth $1000+ ????? Does it come with Gold or something ??

    • +2

It's a pretty significant discount on the retail price. And regardless of that, those are pretty decent specs for a convertible thin and light laptop.

Latitude machines are business-grade laptops which are quite a bit more robust than the Inspiron consumer lines. They generally have an all-metal frame and metal exterior, longer battery life and better cooling than their cheaper counterparts. Most of them have mil-spec drop ratings and are water- and dust-proof…not sure about this particular model though.

Sadly, this particular sale would not include Dell's excellent warranty, which generally includes next-day on-site service for Latitude machines.

OP, do these come with the Active Pen or can you source the pen at all?

If no Dell (the manufacturer) warranty, can you kindly advise what has caused that ? And is your company an authorized service centre i.e authorized to repair these devices as if it were Dell in the event of failure ? Does your company cover the cost of warranty freight both ways or something else ? Thanks.

If you want 3 years onsite Dell warranty, you'll have to pony up $1,389 at the Dell Outlet Store

BTW I have one of these. It is the first "all day" laptop I've ever owned. Absolute keeper.

Allegedly high death rate. Would spend the extra $350 for 3 year warranty

    • Party pooper! But thanks for the heads up. Doing more Googling, looks like a chronic issue.

That listing needs fixing. There are two different models - the 7390 and the 7390 2-in-1. While these have many similarities, they have different connectors and different functionality - the 7390 is a traditional laptop while the 2-in-1 is more like a Lenovo Yoga style where the screen can be flipped around and used as a tablet or in a "tent" configuration. If you want the 2-in-1 functionality then that's a good choice, but if you don't need it then the normal 7390 is nicer (better connectivity and just a bit nicer to use in laptop mode, although they are both good).

The trouble withe listing is that the front image is of a 7390, not the 2-in-1. The 3rd image is the 2-in-1. The description says 2-in-1, but the I/O ports listed says RJ-45 which isn't included on the 2-in-1 and their display is one of the options for the 7390, not the 2-in-1.

I assume they are actually selling the 2-in-1, but I can't tell for sure from the listing. And Dell give you plenty of options, so if you are about Thunderbolt, webcam, Bluetooth, size of the battery (45Whr vs 60Whr), SATA vs PCIe, backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, etc then I'd explicitly confirm before ordering as it is possible to configure most of the models with or without any of these options and even for things that are on the listing like a webcam, I couldn't trust it given the other errors.

sorry mate it was rushed right before I had to leave from home.

I did use a serial number to double check the spec's they are definatley the 2 in 1.

I'll get this updated first thing in the morning.

I apoligize for the stuff around. Really dropped the ball there.

      • Thanks for acknowledging the error. You don't always get that.

The main thing is the people end up getting what they are expecting. And of course they would be quite within their rights with eBay to return the item for a refund if it doesn't match your description, which costs everyone time or money or both.

        • This seller is awesome, everything I have bought from them has been good quality and it's just a pleasant experience buying from them. I nearly pulled the trigger on this 7390 however looking at some of the reddit and Dell Community posts out there, I think this model is a bit borked!

@bdl: Hey man thanks for the postive feedback.

I’ve been working with ex-gov equipment for over a decade now and I've seen millions of pieces of equipment.

I always recon the faults come in batches.

Unfortunately you'll have a tough time finding a product that someone hasn't had a negative experience.

I been following an issue with the Acer Spin 5's that are deployed in there thousands at schools. They were experiencing an intermittent audio distortion issue which acer have only just fixed. Also other issues with sleep & hibernation.

Mate I can rattle off common issues with product lines that i've come across

Dell optiplex units in the p4's & early c2d with the capacitor issue
Toshiba Tecra M2~M5 would always have the dedicated video crap out
The specific dell/ HP units that have common psu failure (lucky with dell psu's they cross a lot of models & years)

Point i’m trying to get to is don’t write off a product just because a handful of the millions out there have an issue. Unfortunately that just life.

            • @Calmago: @calmago Understand completely where you're coming from - that being said, do you have any more details regarding the ACT warranty 1 year warranty that you're advertising with this unit? Is there an option to extend it at all like you have on your website for refurb items?

              • +1

@bdl: Mate we are only going to be offering a 12 months parts and labour warranty. No different from Manufacturer warranty. Basicly if anything hardware related was to fail.

Sorry we won't be having an option to extend it.

I've taken down the listing till I can get it updated tomorrow.

                • @Calmago: Great, thanks for the clarification!

        • Yep, I'll be the first one to throw my hand up if we have made a mistake.

I'm pretty sure that these units have the Narrow Border Carbon Fiber screens as well, which is a solid bonus.

  • Agreeing on the high failure rate on these model. Tragically bought 6 units from dfo as new for clients. 4 had died within 2yrs. Not sure about the other 2. Expensive to fix as these have their cpu soldered onto the mobo. Warranty from dfo covered only a year. Was taken back with Latitudes.

    • Did you get the 2-in-1s or the 1-in-1s? :)

      • The latter.

  • FYI all - these have been relisted and the specs cleaned up. Looks like they are the 1-in-1 rather than the 2-in-1 model!

  • Well.
After extolling the virtues of the 7390, yesterday mine would not turn on. Absolutely unresponsive, bullet charger or USB-PD not doing anything. Still under warranty though, which is onsite…

    • Sorry for jinxing you! Did you have associated burning smell? Hope your data is OK!

      • No data on it, learnt that lesson a long time ago! Maps to network folder and OneDrive. No smell, just no go.

  • +1

    Well. Part II.

New motherboard installed last night. Fired up beautifully. Charger showing 65 watts. All good.

Did a restart. Smell of smoke and DAAD (Dead As A Doornail).

Poor old tech had to log another failure.

  • The end of the 7390:

    Hi Andrew,
    Hope you're well.
I am sending you this email to let you know that your request for a refund has been approved.
I tried my best to get you a system replacement, but we don't do replacements for refurbished systems.
A representative from our CARE department will contact you, and he will arrange the collection of the system with you. Subsequently, a refund will be processed. The turn-around time for the entire refund process will be between 10 and 14 working days.
    Thanks for understanding.
    Best Regards,

    • Sorry to hear! :(

    • Hey mate, just wondering if you had to purchase the Dell premium warranty separately to get the on-site service? Cheers
