New Battery for iPhone 6

Anyway to get a cheap iPhone 6 battery please?

Dad refused to change it when it was 29 dollars in 2017 as his phone last for about one hour. It is now 75 dollars.

His phone only last for 20mins per charge.

I bought the battery on ebay and it comes with the tools that you would need to disassemble the phone, I don't have any experience doing it, I manage to do it within 30 minutes

In Australia, It was 39 dollars in 2017. The main thing is to get a genuine battery, most of the phone batteries in ebay are crap, really hard to find a good one.

I wouldn't say "most" of the phone batteries on ebay are crap, but I would definitely pick and choose where/who you buy it from, I changed mine about 18 months ago when it was failing, full charge last like 10 minutes. After I changed mine it's working perfectly and still lasting pretty much full day for me(obviously depends on how much he use the phone)

The $39 replacement was actually extended to the end of 2018. I got both my husband's and my iPhone 6 batteries replaced in September 2018 at an Apple store and I sold mine on Facebook Marketplace very quickly for $300 with several serious buyers. Husband's is good as new after the replacement.

A battery case may suit your's dad's situation (particularly if he doesn't care about size/aesthetics or need the lightning port). There are plenty of top tier brands making them and there are some cheaper third party ones on Amazon/eBay.

If it was my phone and I planned on keeping it for a while I would just pay Apple the $79 and not bother screwing around with it myself and risking using a dodgy brand battery. I am sure you can save money by doing it yourself - risk vs reward. If you plan on selling it soon then go for the cheaper option.

I bought one off ebay from this seller for a 6s for $15 delivered.

here is the ifixit guide to do it your self.

    super easy to do it.

    2 pentalobe screws.
use the suction cup to lift up the bottom edge of screen. (make sure you hold the phone at the top end to stop ripping the cables)
3 philips screws holding the battery connection shield.
    disconnect battery.
lift up battery (it's stuck down with doublesided tape so force is required.)
    reverse process with new battery.

    • That was 7 months ago. Phone is going fine

Have your dad pay Apple $75. That way he will learn to listen to his smart son next time. Only way to educate him. If you buy cheap and it fails as others above say, then he will only remember you screwed up, not him.
