Just got engaged and now to plan the wedding in Canberra! If anyone has recently planned a wedding (or engagement party) I would be interested in your suggestions and/or tips and tricks. Looking at having around 50 guests.

Sister's weddings:
- At St John's in Campbell then reception at the yacht club
- In Gunning at the Old Coach Stables, had wedding in the garden and reception in the function room
Got married five years ago in a park, reception at a bowls club.
<— see?Some tips:
* Had a roving magician who did a trick on stage after the best man "lost" the ring (worked well because only the bride, myself and the best man knew about it).Hired a roving photographer, 80% of the photos were unposed and awesome, and didn't do "official" photos. We spent more time with our guests and didn't have a schedule to keep.
Asked two friends to be "gofor's" for the day. You wont have time to do anything else but deal with your guests, so make sure you have someone to help you with those little things.
Left with the wife twice during the day/night to have some down time - like 15 minutes of breathing time. Thank god.
What happens is you plan the shit out of the thing, it starts, you're married, then you say hello to everyone, then you start saying goodbye to people leaving. Make sure YOU enjoy it!
Congrats Barnaby!
