Scotts are rebranding to EVERGREEN since they got bought out. So there will be plenty of fire sales

  • Anyone with snake issues, stock up on the Phenyle. Dilute it about 1:3 in a spray pack (the kind you would use for roundup etc) and spray the property boundary. Snakes won’t cross it. It’s got a sweetish, cloying kind of smell and apparently irritates them.
It is not waterproof, so needs to be re-applied after rain, but we’ve had no snakes on the ‘kids’ half of the property (house garden, grass, driveways etc) in the two seasons we’ve been using it. Also in those two seasons, we’ve had different neighbours lose a dog, a horse, find snakes in their sheds etc- But we’ve not sighted one here (we’ve had an average of 1 x Tiger and 2 x Dugites in the preceding six years).
    Thanks OP!

    • what about spiders will it work?

      • I don't think so, unfortunately, but I wish it would- I HATE spiders!
Apparently it works on snakes because it has something to do with the way a snakes olfactory system works- like how they smell with their tongues (or something?).
        Sorry!
