Qantas Frequent Flyer Earn Categories on Partner Flights

Hi all

I recently flew Qatar Airways and submitted my claim for points to Qantas.

"We're unable to credit points for your claim as the fare type you purchased with our partner airlines are in booking classes that aren't eligible to earn Qantas Points nor status credits. Please be advised W classes under Qatar Airways do not earn. For your reference, kindly visit qantas.com/airlineearningtable. "

I checked out this page and read the following;
"Qantas Points and Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes, except on Qatar Airways codeshare Flights operated by an airline other than Qantas or a oneworld alliance airline."

Am i missing something here or are Qantas just being difficult.

Thx

  • on all eligible booking classes

Sounds like you didn't investigate what this means

I don't know what W class means… but Im guessing its a discounted class,

Since Qanas also limites status points on discounted flights, not surprised they do the same on partner flights

    • I have no idea what W class means either.
When booking with Qatar you choose either economy, business or first.

It wasn't a sale price so i'd be interested to know if all Qatar economy fares are W class and the other classes listed on the Qantas page bs.

      Anyway thx for replying.

Qatar economy W is classed as "Economy Promo" according to Qatar Airways, so it is most definitely a "sale" fare. It earns the lowest amount of points on Qatar's frequent flyer program so I'm not surprised you're not earning anything for QFF. A promo fare according to Qatar is:

"A Promo Fare is Qatar Airways’ lowest fare and is available only for a limited time. However, it comes with more restrictions than our other fare families."

As to your second question, no, not all Qatar economy fares are W class.

        • thanks dude

Can you submit a claim to Qatar instead and try and do something with the points?

  • I’ve encountered this before, I’ve joined the operating airlines program and gave the points to charity or sent my Friend a magazine subscription. As it’s normally too few points to transfer. Still you got the flights cheap.
