Saw this deal while looking for daily deals on Amazon US. Great price given that its closer to $300 for local stock. Not sure if there is a difference to local firmware, but I reckon even if there is, a simple update with the local version or with something like ddwrt would work.

Mod Note: Update price to include GST.

  • How is it compared to Asus Rt-AC86u ? Which one provides more range, speed and bandwidth?

    • From the number 2600 vs 2900 (which actually represent bandwidth of the connection), the Asus one is better. The processor and hardware on the D-Link is also not as powerful as this but for small to medium sized homes, this should be sufficient. For better coverage than that, I think mesh networks are the way to go.

  • +2

Purchased it a few months ago decent router.

    • does it work as a modem for fttn?

      • It's a router not a modem.

You connect it to your modem for better coverage for wifi.

  • congratulations you found something on anazon that ships from the us……

    • There are lots that do ship - just have yourself logged in while browsing and it will automatically show you if it does. The other trick is to browse amazon.com and if you find something, put a .au after the .com (without changing the rest of the link). If it switches to aussie prices plus shipping, you know it'll ship

      • Sadly that doesn't always work - plus its always good to know just how much on amazon.com won't ship to Australia even though its sold directly by amazon.com, and is prime - since the amount of good deals that won't ship at all is significant. The reason why this is important to know is because amazon.com advertises that it ships to Australia directly again, and in reality that is frequently just a lie, and when it advertises prime to Australians on .com its really garbage unless you aware of the truth.

its nothing to do with the Australian site which scams in associated but slightly different ways.

        • I agree that you are right to an extent. From the category of things I have bought throughout the years, I have found Amazon US to be acceptable. Key problem is that a lot of products/ deals are actually by third party sellers, and it is usually these sellers that do not ship outside of the US.

What miffs me though is how bad stock, pricing and availability is at Amazon Au. Range is lacking and availability even worse. Whats worse is that when available, it is unreasonably overpriced often. The only reason I have prime is to get US items and watch Grand Tour

          • @bpop99: nope amazon.com directly not third party - even if prime - most good deals amazon.com won't ship to oz anymore despite what they write…

searching the amazon.au site you can find the same items listed by amazon.com. au but at a much much higher price which in my book is as shonky as hell.

Also getting real tired of people rewriting what I write, and generally stalking me round here when I speak the truth about amazon.

I mean they even advertise items they won't sell - ie supposedly in stock but you can't actually add to your basket to inflate their traffic, which they also use this site for.
