Japan Fall Foliage Season

Hey guys,

Currently thinking to plan to a trip to Japan during their autumn season.

I was in Japan for the first time during Cherry Blossom last year, man what an amazing country! Absolutely loved it!

This time I will be travelling alone!

I'm planning to go around 20/11 to 5/12, most likely in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka as my last stop. Is this a good time to go for Fall Foliage?

Cheers!

Edit: Sorry forgot to ask for some good places to view the maple leaves! Probably somewhere good for photos (recently got into photography, so hoping to take some amazing pics haha!)

Late Nov - early Dec sounds good.

Here's a guide for last year's autumn foliage:

I like their names for the south to north autumn tint front: momijigari and koyo sanzen. Regarding timing…it's different every year and the local news covers it. Very diffcult to plan ahead. A lot of Japan's winter is dictated by the Himalayan and Siberian winds.

You can get a much faster answer to this question using Google and doing a quick bit of research

  • Good time for Autumn. I was there October-November last year and the later in the month you can go, the better.
