  • I gotta ask… Does this taste that much different to tap or your regular Mt Franklin?

    • Yes unique taste because of alkaline level from glacial

    • +19

It makes you lighter, or at least your wallet in your pocket lighter and therefore you

  • Which part of Iceland is this from ?

    • +26

The suburban industrial area where the factory is

      • +1

No they specifically say bottled at the source
Although it might be a slight mis-translation and it's bottle at the (Heinz Tomato) sauce (factory), down in Olfus Spring

    • From glacier read the website

      • +11

He thinks they don't use a massive bottling plant in a factory you see, instead they stand there and hand fill it from the glacier.

      • +5

Is the water derived from actual glaciers?

No. The name “Icelandic Glacial” is inspired by the majestic glaciers of Iceland and is meant to capture the essence of our beautiful country. Icelandic Glacial is 100% natural spring water. The water is naturally filtered over thousands of years through lava rock and bottled at the underground source - the Ölfus Spring.

I got this for free from the tap when I was in Iceland . Should of bottled some back to sell .

But honestly the Tap water in Iceland tastes better than any bottled water I have ever drank .

    • +1

I can second that. Myself is fussy and never drink tap water in Sydney due to the bleach trace/taste but didn't have any complaint for the tap water in Iceland. Actually I heard Icelandic locals never purchase bottled water from supermarket, only foreigners do! Having said that the hot water in Reykjavik has strong sulfur smell, it feels like washing my face with rotten egg.

  • +5

    Global warming down your oesaphagus….D

    • +4

This works on a number of levels, from drinking a melting glacier, to shipping a bottle of water almost as far as possible..

      • -1

But not as much as the hamburger you watered down with it.

        • Cue "How do you know someone is a vegan" joke…

  • -4

Snowflakes need their special water. Tap isnt good enough for them.

    • Maybe wants to buy them all to resell. Anyone look to see if user name checks out?

  • +2

For those that miss The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson -
Iceland is a country in the North Atlantic. It's capital is Reykjavik.

    • I thought it's a warehouse that sold discounted glaciers and icebergs.

      • +1

I thought it was a supermarket.

  • +9

Pour it into your voss bottles

    • +7

You'd need to change your username though

      • +7

Shhh. Given how loudly and proudly I show off my voss bottle all colleagues within a 20m radius They must be both impressed and jealous at my never ending source of wealth and power.
But little do they know, it is just a big w vase with the word ‘VOSS’ crudely handdrawn in sharpie.

  • Voted best water in the world amazing price!!

Right because the vote was in a real competition that had nothing to do with marketing or who spends the most money on marketing.

Next you'll be telling us it's environmentally friendly to ship water around in bottle because you read that on the company website website.

  • Tried different water bottles and this does taste better than some others personally.

  • I've visited Iceland twice during their winter - my favourite place I've travelled to so far.

While driving around the Snæfellsjökull peninsula I stopped and refilled my water bottles from a stream that was literally flowing down from the glacial-capped volcano in the distance. That was was fresh, and very very cold.

Iceland is an incredible place to visit - if you get the chance to go, please don't - I want it all to myself.

Would’ve taken me three days to type the peninsulas name

      • +1

        I'm grateful for copy/paste!

      • I think I would’ve take me 3 days to pronounce the place.

        • Three years since I was last there…I still can't pronounce it!

    • Same here :)

    Unbelievable…. as in unbelievably terrible

I can't believe ozbargain community is encouraging further melting of the ice from global warming. Haven't we got enough risk without further selfish manmade degradation of natural resources that keep our planet and marsupials alive?

    • But we are killing off the reptiles amd imsext population. There's always a trade off.

Anyway with all those Bitcoin servers up there now twiddling their electronic thumbs, they might as well use their excess heat to generate more cash income.

      • True we're doomed 4 shore

    • I can't believe ozbargain community is encouraging further melting of the ice from global warming.

      How you figure this?

      • It’s a joke

  • Fiji water tastes better.

    • +1

Fiji water is high in toxic arsenic

      • Oh well, at least no glarciers need to be melted for bottling it.

      • +2

No they assure me it's the safe arsenic.

    • Icelandic Glacial label themselves as The Purest Tasting Water on Earth™ because the actual purest and freshest water is Cape Grim :)

      • +1

Interesting claim. The purest water is made in a lab. The natural stuff all has pollutants.

Although they do have relatively clean air there, ad Cape Grim is one of the three places they take air samples to check global CO2, NO, Methane and other greenhouse gas readings from

        Here's the err grim reading

        • Interesting claim. The purest water is made in a lab. The natural stuff all has pollutants.

obviously - or perhaps not - I was referring to water made by nature not humans :)

Although they do have relatively clean air there, ad Cape Grim is one of the three places they take air samples to check global CO2, NO, Methane and other greenhouse gas readings from

hence the purest and freshest from nature :)

    I'll stick to Pocari Sweat.

    • Is that the sweat of Sir Patrick Stewart?

    • +1

      Nothing beats calpis.

  • Futile marketing and another unbelievable waste of plastic…there I said it.

    • +2

Don't know why people would downvote this.

It's absolutely utterly insane buying bottled water in the first place, especially from the other side of the world. The environmental impact of drilling for oil, refining it, making it into plastic in some factory, fuel used to ship the plastic bottles to another factory in iceland, energy to bottle the water, fuel to then ship those heavy water filled plastic bottles to the other side of the planet, fuel to ship it to a supermarket, fuel to then carry it home.

We are lucky to have great drinkable tap water in Australia. If you want better, get a high flow (or other) filter for your home. It will save you a stack of cash of bottled water and reduce the incredible waste.

      • What if renewable energy was used instead of fossil fuel, and the water transported in bulk to near the point of sale, where it would be put into recyclable and reusable bottles?

        Welcome to OzBargain :)

  • How does it compare to this. Worth the premium?

    • I admire anyone with the chutzpah to scam people $95 for 750ml of water.

  • What is a saver coupon?

  • Some Iceland Air can also be purchased online :)

  • This rubbish is no better than the tap water you are now drinking. I really have an issue with companies that lay unsubstantiated claims about the purity of their product when no on even knows or cares enough to investigate the origins of what they are actually drinking.

    • This rubbish is no better than the tap water you are now drinking.

Sounds like you're making an unsubstantiated claim yourself.

        • Linked article mentions nothing about the product in this deal, so no, you've googled nothing for me, and the comment I replied to remains unsubstantiated.

          • @dm01: " 45% of the world's bottled water actually comes from municipal water supply systems (also known as “tap water”). That's right, major bottled water companies get about 55% of their water from natural springs but the rest is essentially tap water that is treated in their plants and filtration systems."

            https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/food/drink/water-scientist…

"In fact, one company that’s been put to the test — Nature’s Best — was found to be really not that different to tap water at all."

All you are paying for is the convenience of a bottle and a couple of additives to change the flavour.

Don't fall for the stupid names and the fancy glacier looking bottle.

            • @Abbi: Again, linked article mentions nothing about the product in this deal.
