I just purchased the Ray-Ban Justin Polarized Sunglasses today and they were $40 off from the RRP $225 down to $185. They also have other sunglasses on the promo sale. Got told from the Costumer Support that the sale on the Ray-Ban Justin finishes tomorrow and I assume that more then likely that will be the case for the rest of the sunglasses on sale.

Enjoy

  • Which plane is the polarisation ?

    • The plane containing the direction of propagation and the electric vector

      • I thought it was supposed to be perpendicular to that??

thks, just bought brown and black in the wayfarer classic.

Now to send back the $139 fake from ebay that arrived this week.

The fakes were very close, glass polarised lens , etc, not quite the same finish. If I want fakes I can get the same from Aliexpress for US$23, $139 for fakes off ebay is too close to the cost of genuine.

  • I paid $25 for polarised sunnies at Big W the other day. Good enough!

many ray bans are optical glass not plastic lenses, it’s one of the reason they are expensive. glass is more scratch resistant then plastic hence phone screens are glass not plastic. also optical clarity , they use glass lenses in telescopes, microscopes, cameras etc.

    • Thanks for contributing to plastic waste!

pretty sure Ray Ban Justin lenses are polycarbonate (plastic) or similar polymer, just like most high quality prescription glasses and other sunglasses.

you can buy custom prescription polycarbonate lenses + frames for less than $10.

you aren't paying for quality when you buy Ray Bans, you are paying for a brand name. sunglasses of equal quality can be made and sold for much, much less. it is well known that luxottica's markups are insane, and based almost entirely on branding, not on quality.

I can tell you that my Ray Bans has lasted far longer than any sub $50 sunglasses I bought. If you buy something expensive, you are more likely to look after it. Therefore less plastics. Quality or not. In my younger years I would go through 3-4 cheap sunglasses a year. My first set of Ray Bans lasted 4 years, my next set is going strong on 6 years - easy to replace the lenses and great warranty on the frame

          • @onlinepred: i need to have prescription lenses which can easily cost more than twice the RRP of mot Ray Ban frames. obviously i want the lenses to last as long as my prescription doesn't change so i'm not going to cheap out on the frames either.
