Given that this is a non-profit organisation, I would hope that OzBargainers are only signing up for this if they or someone they know are going to be able to make proper use if it.
Agree, I don't think it's fair for a charity to get OzBargained. A lot of users of this site seem to equate anything free as great, whether they seem to need it or not. Personally, I think the mods should consider deleting this "deal".
It's pretty unclear what you actually receive anyway. All you might really get is a pamphlet, a magnet, endless email newletters and possibly phone calls asking for donations to pay for your "free" kit.

I disagree.
It can help many people "who have Asthma or have an interest in Asthma".
No need to censor things just because you disagree.
+1 to these Asthma Foundation
I'm going to skip on this freebie though

and these guys too!!!
Agreed issh, it's rather encouraging to see quite a few OzB regulars thinking this way! :)
This post is more appropriate for the forums, I think. The Asthma Control Pack has always been free, and consists of printed literature of little use to anyone who's not an asthma sufferer (or knows one).
Many Asthma sufferers and their partners do not read the Forums.
I think there is a legitimate use for this Freebie to be listed under Freebies.
I admit I needed some self-control to pass this. Let's hope others will do that too. Charities are here to help, not to be overloaded with unneeded freebie redemptions.
I have no need myself, but I've forwarded the link to family/friends who are asthma sufferers! Whilst AFAIK they're under appropriate medical care, it never hurts to be even better informed when it comes to a potentially life-threatening disease!
Thank you Andy! :)
nice post, its good to create some awareness of freebies like this, similar to the moving essentials pack and refreshing to see some restraint with most people here
can the usual ozbargain scabs please stay away from this "freebie" unless you actually need it? this place is worse then the seagulls on st kilda beach sometimes…
If you've been diagnosed with asthma you'll already be given the very basic and limited info provided on the sheet of paper that constitutes as their "asthma control pack". So basically whether you have asthma or not, sign up to this if you want a fridge magnet and a piece of paper.
No deal here.
I will pass too, go this charity!!
Hi, I've had asthma all my life.
I'll give a + to the asthma foundation.
I think there's great focus on asthma symptoms (great for GSK who make billions off Seretide).
But we need more knowledge about the underlying immune system mechanisms which is where the cure lie.
Is it just brochures etc or do they send u puffers and stuff?
Asthma medications are regulated in Australia. It would be illegal (and medically irresponsible) for them to supply any kind of asthma medication as part of this pack.
I've had asthma for as long as I can remember, passing on this though. I don't need more reading material! :D
Charities like these make me smile =]
