  • A two dollar pen is a great gift idea?

    • +2

Factoring in postage, its probably closer to a buck.

    • +2

I think it is. I'd be happy with this pen as a gift.

    • for the year of the pig wohoo

  • Shows as $7 for me.

    • updated.

      • Thanks. Works now.

  • Says $6.99 for the pen in cart.
    Works now, thanks.

  • Pen price worked for me.
    Cheers

  • The bin is $99.95?

    Only the bag is $29.95?

    • Corrected.

    • +2

It would want to come with a happy ending at that price.

    • oh well got me a little excited thinking the bin is $29.95….

    • +1

The bags "can be used 25-28 times depending on the length". It's a continuous tube of bag, and when you press the button it seals the top of the bag. That seal becomes the bottom of the next bag. So the price you're considering is $30 for 150 odd bags

  • thanks op. ordered pen and refills. Any idea of shipping time to sydney?

  • The Pen's is already out of stock? Tried adding to card and prompts that its out. The one with refill still available though

    • Just checked with rep. Stock should be available now.

  • The coating is kind of matt and thus get dirty quickly

    • +5

What do you do with your hands?

      • Writing maybe. Guess you and your up vote friend has nothing to do other than cleaning your King xiaomi products all day long. The mat design is stupid, accept it

  • +3

i have never understood why this pen consistently gets so many upvotes.

    • +3

I think it could be for a number of reasons, such as Xiaomi having a good reputation for cheap well made products, its minimalistic design, Japanese ink and Swiss something or other. it's definitely not the best pen I've ever used, but I do find myself using it more than others I have. I lost mine last week so was happy to see this deal.

      • +8

The pen looks great but I didn't like how it writes. Very scratchy in my opinion

        • +2

0.5mm pens are always scratchy and not really suitable for cursive English. Try 0.7mm pens next time. 0.5mm is more for east Asian writing where there's lots of short strokes in a dense area.

        • Mine is really patchy and will run out of ink mid letter

          • +1

@clownfish: Then I'll suggest you try Uni-ball's Jetstream line of pens. Ink flow is consistantly smooth and clean and doesn't smudge. They're usually not cheap but the writing experience is a joy. You'll not find one negative review on Uni's Jetstream pens.

    • +15

A lot of people here blindly upvote everything Xiaomi.

If someone posted a Xiaomi branded testicle crusher it'd be upvoted to the front page.

    • +2

I only have had bad times with it. The ink clogs up and just stops working, seems like shitty quality refills.

      • +2

Agree, cost me the shirt off my back as it leaked. Crap product

    • Because it's Xiaomi - have you seen the way people lose their minds over some of those deals? I am a happy owner of a couple of their products but the way this place loses its mind over anything Mi is crazy.

      • we lose our minds over a good bargain

        • +1

Yeah but being Xiaomi doesn't define it as a bargain as this site seems to think. Off the top of my head the backpacks & umbrellas that automatically qualify for front page are nothing special.

  • +4

Can someone with the bin comment on the liner situation (i.e. can you substitute generic liners?). I wouldn’t mind the bin, but $30 for a pack of six bin liners is some Apple tier bullsh*t.

    • +2

5 bucks every time you empty your bin?

      • +2

I was about to ask the very same thing.

The only thing I can think of is that those 6x bin liners for $30 - maybe they're 6 sets or something.
And each set has a number of bin liners in it seeing as they come in the little square frame.

I'd be really surprised if it's actually just 6 bin liners for $30.

Also, I'm wondering can you source some cheapo ones on aliexpress or something as well.

    • Postage for the pack of six bin bag would be too expensive, I will put bin with 2 refill (original bin come with one refill), so 3 refills with package would be save lots of Postage.

      • +1

Just answering my own comment from earlier… looking at a competitors website, one of it's pictures has a reference to the bin liners and mentions:

"Because the length of each package is different, the actual number may vary" - I'd imagine each bin liner is one big massive long roll and when the bin is full, it heats up a strip to seal it, then snips it off - or maybe just snips it off somehow. There's no real explanation anywhere so I'm guessing here… :)

So 6x bin liners for $30 may not be so bad after all (if you got a lot of bags out of it).

        • The bin liners are the issue here … I used always the supermarket plastic bags (not anymore and still looking for a good cheap replacement … but looks like this will have high running costs).
Anyone know exactly how many bags you get out of a refill?

          • @mini_wombat: Yeah I'm of the same mindset.

I posted again further down about the number of bags.

I was looking for some cheapo knock-offs on Aliexpress (to try to condone buying this and not spending more on bags than the actual bin) and found none - only the legit ones.

But there was more info on those adverts and it mentioned 25-28 bags per refill (depending on how full you bag your rubbish.

      • +3

Postage is not something I want to consider when purchasing bin liners - unless you count the five minute walk to ALDI to purchase a $2 pack of 30.

        • 2$ for 30 … so we should get at least 450 bags out of a 30$ refill …

  • Do you think you're going to sell the roidmi f8 storm vacuum?

    • +3

We use to sell Roidmi F8, but after i have tested xiaomi Dreame for one month, Dreame performance is much better. So we decide to sell Dreame vacuum.

      • +1

Can you please do a deal on Roborock S50 :))

      • Is this a new vacuum model? I can't find very much information about it.

      • any plans on stocking the new jimmy range? jv51 + jv71 ?

  • Can you do anything on the Mi Robot Vacuum?

    • +3

surface area is quite small so probably no..

  • I have suspected for some time but am now convinced that the slightly mangled English used by Chinese companies for descriptions is deliberate. I have a theory that it is supposed to engender in the reader a slight sense of superiority and a desire to take advantage of the seller. Xiaomi especially does have English speakers working for them. But with annual revenues of US$21.5 billion and a net worth of US$12.5 billion for the founder Lei Jun, I imagine sales to native English speakers makes up a small part of the company's revenues.

    TL;DR I think too much.

    • +4

Xiaomi put their promotional images in Chinese and it's usually the Chinese resellers that translate it badly 😉

      • I think you are right, although for the pen and the blender there is a consistency of font which suggests it is crafted by Xiaomi, which accounts for the almost perfect English. The bin on the other hand uses a different font and is less coherent.

        • The bin is made by Townew and not Xiaomi. Their partners usually have different marketing teams.

    • so having better English = superiority?!

      • -2

That's not what I was saying, if you bothered to read it properly. My written English is far from perfect, but at least try to start a sentence with a capital letter and learn how to type an interrobang‽

        • I'm sorry if my Engrish is not as superior as yours… ;)

Not to start a debate, but based on your logic this is how I interpreted it:

          1. "mangled English used by Chinese companies for descriptions is deliberate"

          2. "it (read: mangled English) is supposed to engender in the reader a slight sense of superiority" <- this implies having "mangled English" "engender" the writer inferiority

          3. Hence you're implying having better English is essentially "superior"

Lastly I would love to see you even try to write in another "mangled language" :P

          Just saying…not hating lol

    • +1

Chill out dude, I was in China and Hong Kong for ten years the translation often is impossible

For example he / she or him or her doesn't exist in Chinese and you also say sentences in a different order in Chinese

My Chinese is way worse than any Chinese person's English hah. :)

So respect to anyone who even attempts a second language

      • just a friendly fyi - chinese dos have he/she/him/it/they etc…
But yes I agree anyone who even attempts a second language have my repsect

        • Ah you are correct.

They are all pronounced the same (ta) but turns out the written form is different for make or female

Note to self don't always listen to my Chinese high school teacher in high school when I did one year of Chinese :)

    • +2

I think the superior feeling you feel is just you mate.

  • Bought a pen to try out. Thanks

  • +4
    • +3

Thanks looks cool hah I'd probably pay 40 or 50 but 90 is too much

  • +1

With regards the bin… looking on Aliexpress, the adverts there reckon each "box" of bin liners (you get 6x for $29.95) will do around 25-28 bags.

    So, 150-168 bags for $29.95.
Around 5c per bag (I think).

  • +2

These pens are great. Nice feel, weight and satisfying click to extend the tip.

The refills are hit and miss. Some are great and write well for a long time. Others are scratchy or inconsistent in ink delivery from the start.
I always mean to determine if they are standard size refills so I can get some from elsewhere but haven't gotten around to it. Anyone know?

Also worth noting the silver and gold pens use a different refill to the white pen and they are not compatible

    • +1

The pens are actually made by KACO so one of their refills might do the trick. They're sold all over eBay and AliExpress.

    • Also worth noting the silver and gold pens use a different refill to the white pen and they are not compatible

I have found the gold and silver refills worse to write with

      • tend to agree. the gold and silver pens have a very satisfying 'clicking' motion to extend and retract the tip. But the white pens seem to write better.

I reckon I'm over thinking this

  • +3

I'd buy the bin….if it was another 50% off.

    • LOL i m tempted to get just to watch how it works

  • Does Xiaomi make erasable pens?

  • Is that blender dishwasher safe?

  • Finally got one of these. That's the 8th and last OzB badge.

  • Hi,
I added the pen to cart and go to PayPal for payment. But accidentally, I pressed return button and it went back to the site. When I tried to order again, it said I reach the limit.

  • is the Bin and 6 Refill Bags sold out?

  • I purchased the bin + 6 bag packs + 2 other XIAOMI accessories last Mon 4th Feb 19. On their website they claim to be fast & free and based in VIC. Not true!
I got notified by the Australian post the items were supposed to arrive on Fri 8th. Today is 14th Feb and still NO delivery. I followed up with the Au post today and they said this is very likely to be shipped from overseas even though they registered the shipping to start in AU.
I just got an email from Debby from Shopro saying they run out of the bins + bag packs. Guess what? Items are still available on their online store: https://www.shopro.com.au/smart-device-1/xiaomi-townew-smart…
    SCAMMERS

Why do you guys send emails saying items dispatched and provide the Au post tracking number if after 11 days you come back saying you run out?
Please send the bin and the other 2 xiaomi accessories I bought at your earliest convenience. You can send the refills after when you receive them.
        Thanks

        • Sorry for the inconvenience, we will follow up tomorrow.
