      NOT FOR THIS BRAND

      • But why does it matter? If it's one brand or a particular make.

The point is it shouldn't be happening at all.

    • +1

Haha jokes on you! Wrong brand for Dai gou exports…

It should be noted that kids at 1 year old don't usually require formula as they should be eating solids.

    • they should also be having breast milk instead of formula.

      • +2

You're correct of course (as the downvotes indicate) - children who do not consume breast milk have compromised immune systems.

Perhaps it conflicts with their notions of giving women choices or that powdered food is just as good as natural food because science understands everything (which is about as unscientific an attitude as it gets).

        • I don't think anyone thinks formula is better than breast milk. I think the point is that some women just don't express enough breast milk.

(Of course, not 100% of women feeding their babies formula are in this position, but enough are that it's a bit of a useless generalisation to say "well just feed them breast milk" as some kind of end-all solution.)

          • @HighAndDry: I think a lot of people thing they are exactly the same though, or at least virtue signal as much.

            • @TerryJustTerry: Honestly I can't even keep track of which side is virtue-signaling harder. The ones who're all "but think of the children! feed them breast milk!" or the ones who're all "but think of the mothers! don't judge them!"

Both sides have merit - breast milk is objectively better than formula. But breast milk is also not always universally available.

If people could just learn to be reasonable…. (yes I know, laugh away).

              • +1

@HighAndDry: Why would you be reasonable ?

that sounds like something a nazi would say….

                 #punchanazi!!!!

          • @HighAndDry: can't they just get some from one of those co-op breast milk banks??? i assume thats what they are for

            • @wordplay:

              co-op breast milk banks?

I'm probably completely the wrong person to be asking about this - but what? Are these a thing?!

              • @HighAndDry: yes, were everywhere for quite a while, but there were a few people exploiting the services for some more depraved reasons.

              • @HighAndDry: From what I gather is that these are a group of mothers who donate their breast milk to those unable to breast feed their baby for whatever reason.

    • and drinking fresh milk instead of powder

      • +3

My issue with a product like this is very few kids need something like this at this age, but the companies are trying to extend how long they can keep selling a products that was invented for infants.

        • -2

It's not like they're forcing anyone to buy and use the products - parents should be making their own decisions.

          • @HighAndDry: HighAndDry comes down on the side of allowing large business to compromise toddler's immune systems.

            • +1

@Diji1: Again, unless these "large businesses" are forcing formula down the throats of babies, I've no idea what you're talking about.

Can we setup a vigilante group against the scum taking the baby formula away from our own Australian babies?

    • +1

If I was going to go to the effort of doing that, I'd sell the formula myself for a profit. (Isn't that what Woolies and Coles does anyway? Sell them for more to make a profit?)

Limit of 3 per fortnight.
