Viofo A129 Dual Dash Cam $188 / A119 Pro $95 / A119S $94 / A119 V2 w/SD Card $96 @ a1_electrictoys eBay

PASSIONATE

Update: seller jacked prices for single cams to $95 for A119 Pro, $94 for A119S, $105 for A119 V2 GPS. A119 V2 w/o GPS, but with SD card is $95 which is still a decent deal. Dual cam A129 is still same price.

Been a while since since the last deal on the A119 Pro or A119S, and the lowest price for A129 dual with both cameras.

A119 V2 GPS link
A129 dual cam link

Seller has many variants of each with or without GPS, SD card, hard wire kit, etc also available: link

My pick is the A119 V2 GPS for a single cam or A129 for dual cam. Don't see a real difference with the A119 Pro and A119S doesn't have as clear image as the 1440p models. Some may disagree!

    • With heatwave going on you would expect 55+ degrees inside what do you expect? Raw steak can be fully cooked. Let alone fragile electronics.

Even roads melting at that point

    • try leave a gap of the windows if you park it under the sun in the summer

    • funny how mine didnt melt the other week when it was 47 in adelaide it mustve been extremely hot in my car which was parked in the sun all day and on recording park mode ..

  • I have had the A129 installed in my car for maybe 6 months now. I have it hard wired and warn of warning, it WILL interfere with your DAB radio. FM is fine.

  • They don’t seem to work with a 64GB card?

    • Supposed to work with up to 128GB class 6 or better.

      • Does it need to be formatted a special format? NTFS is ok?

        • Format card in the dash cam. i.e. use the dash cams format setting.

        • Fat32

    • It worked fine for me with Samsung 64GB High Endurance. Have now got Sandisk Ultra A1 and recording fine though so far only used less than hour.
As mentioned, format your card in the camera from menu options.

  • In case anyone think they will miss out on this deal.

    1. Price wise, this seller is definitely one of the cheapest for the cam itself with local shipping via express. Not so much for accessories. Suction amount $15 vs $6 from overseas sellers (or $12 from Viofo au site).

    2. After price jacking, the net amount is the same as the usual price + 10% ebay discount (happens fairly frequent). Ie. A119s is now $120, after discount $96. Normally price is $105, or $96 with 10% discount.

My response to the supplier A1 Electric Toys re price jacking.

I have just paid for this Viofo A119 Pro without a GPS for $119 (actually paid $95.20 after using the redemption code
PASSIONATE for 20% off). But I now see you have advertised the same model but with a GPS for $120 (see attached screen copy) which with the redemption code PASSIONATE 20% off works out at $96.00 - only 80c more expensive.
What is going on? So that mean I can get a GPS module for an extra 80 cents?

    Response from seller

Hi there, there is no need to worry about that table right now as the price has been adjusted due to 20% ebay promotion in order for us to not lose on the sale. Therefore what you have got is the current pricing, if you would like to have the old pricing, we would suggest to you to wait for the 20% ends so it can be restored, thank you.

Can't put it any more simply than that! 🖕
    • Thank you for the info.

However, if they jack up the prices to protect their profits they should not participate in the 20% promotion. It is false advertising, misleading and illegal.

edit: There are plenty of 5% and 10% sales that they can join without having to raise their prices.

I would suggest forwarding the response to ACCC. Whilst the seller is 50% at fault (ebay bears the other 50%). It will send a strong signal to all sellers (via ebay) for deceptive practice.

  • Bought the A119V2 with SDCard. $96 not a bad deal cheers

  • Grabbed the A129. Thanks OP.

Does anyone know how to get the hardwire kit for $16 as per the description in the dash cam listings? It shows $26.99 in the hardwire listing.

    • If it's what I looked at, it seemed as though the 2 wire is $16 and the 3 wire the more expensive of the two units.

Edit I've eneailed the seller and the $16 link definitely takes you to the 3 wire kit. I have a bit (2x duos, 2 64gb cards, 2x hardwire kits and 4 cpl filters) in my cart so I'd expect to see the advertised price at least!

  • Can anybody comment on record times in full res for the A129 dual. Just trying to work out what capacity cards to buy in the enduro range. Short of looking around, can I assume their sd card prices from this seller are half decent within a few dollars of best prices?

    • Anyone?

      • +1

Pretty sure I read somewhere that 128gb will get you 8 hours on the duo.

        • Thanks, I'll do a bit if a search.

"Bit rates are 16.5 Mbps for both the front and rear video streams. A 128 GB card will give you a little more than 8 hours of uninterrupted recording time. The maximum supported card size is 256 GB."

  • For the A119S is the Suction mount bracket a required accessory? or can I just use the mounting tape that comes with the unit? Thanks.

    • +1

You can just use the included tape on the A119S or GPS mount for permanent mounting. The Suction mount is useful if you want to take it travelling or swap between vehicles.

      • Thank you!

  • I have a few questions if anyone can help. I'm interested in the A129 Duo version.

    1) The listing includes a "GPS mount". Is this the GPS module itself or just a mount? Do I need to add a GPS module on separately?

    2) Is the Viofo CPL lens designed for both the front and rear camera? I should buy two if I'm getting the A129?

    3) Is there a particular memory card that is recommended? Are the ones this seller is listing acceptable? What size is recommended? (I intend to use parking mode).

Thanks for any assistance. Greatly appreciated.

      I bought the A129 Duo.

As per photo 11, GPS mount included. To me, I believe this houses the gps module. It's confusing as even videos I've watched seem to comment on "built-in" gps so I'll just have to wait and see.

Again, I believe the cpl is designed for both lenses - I bought 2.

Memory cards I have read that the evo plus cards are fine so I purchased from the seller - I checked against other sellers and the next cheapest are all within a dollar as far as ebay goes. At roughly half the price of the endurance cards, I can afford to replace it at a later date if it fails at all, especially given the dropping prices of sd cards on the dialy.

      • Thanks heaps for your reply.

I'm a bit torn when it comes to the memory card as I would like to take advantage of parking mode and people seem to recommend the endurance in this case but it's hard to justify the price difference. I may just buy the evo plus and see how it goes.

With regards to the cpl I'm wondering now if it's required on the rear camera since my car has rear tinting. Not sure what difference that would make either way.

        • The GPS module is separate module. You attach it to windscreen and the camera slots onto it for easy attachment and removal. Power also connects to either GPS or the camera.
As noted, the Endurance cards quite pricey. The Sandisk Ultra "A1" 128GB has been said to be reliable & is what I've got in mine.

          • @deltakilo: If I had to guess, tint only shades light, it doesn't cut glare. Same reason I'll never buy another pair of non-polarised sunglasses. My reason for buying both anyway.

            • @db87: Exactly. Tints don't remove glare. In saying that, the CPL's most effective use is cutting the reflection of the cars dash on the windscreen. In some cars it's more pronounced than others depending on the windscreen angle and dash material. I get little reflections on my wifes Tiguan but more on my Megane. Haven't tested the rear yet but it's a SUV and hatch so the upright angle of the glass should reduce the reflection.

  • I've purchased A129 Duo, on 1 Feb 2019, it's stated that EXPRESS POST but today 5 Feb still haven't receive yet.

  • My A119 Pro purchase has just been cancelled by this seller.

Yes the seller has refunded the price but I also have paid for accessories for the dash cam: memory card, CPL filter, wiring kit and I'm now trying to get a refund for those items. So not only has this seller jacked up the prices they now seem to be reneging on sales. I notice that the original eBay listing had another one sold. Has anyone else had their purchase cancelled?

    • +1

I got an email that they are out of stock with an option to cancel the order (get a refund) or to wait for new stock (next week if it is to be believed).

  • Has anyone researched alternative 3-wire hard wire kits? I couldn't find any cheaper on eBay.

Is [https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Viofo-Parking-hardwire-kit-Dash-Cam-Video-Recorder-mini-usb-12v-24v-adapter/292280991493?hash=item440d4dff05:g:9vUAAOSwyApb9fD4:sc:AU_StandardDelivery!3008!AU!-1:rk:5:pf:0](this 3-wire kit from the same seller) a good price at $21.59 after discount?

  • Mine turned up today, A129 with a few accessories - very fast shipping. Quite surprised by how compact these are. My first viofo and probably not my last if it's as good as people say they are. Cheers OP.

    • +3

I managed to install them inside of an hour or so just to test everything. I installed them without the hardwire kit I purchased which I'll do at a later date, but I can comment on the cpl filters as were brought up in earlier posts.

I'd highly recommend them. I put one on the front and nothing on the rear (factory dark rear tint) and went for a quick drive in Melbourne's glare, the rear struggled with heavy reflections from my parcel shelf and it's aimed up as high as I would like (can just see the top of my boot lip). With the cpl fitted, the quality dramatically improved. The front was similar however I just trialled it in my driveway and it was enough to see the same improvement.

Other things I noticed, I purchased the evo plus cards (128gb) as advised on that dashcams website/forum and I noticed during recording/streaming via wifi that it is quite jumpy. When played back though, the video is seamless. I feel it may just be a wifi thing as the image looks fine on the back of the front cam display. Just wondering if anybody who already owns these cams can comment. For info, phone is a Galaxy Note 9.

      Hope this helps! 👍
