Beware of Catch Connect, particularly when you porting out from it and to Kogan.

    • How bad is it?

      • +3

        It's bad

    • +1

Do not port with Catch connect, just use as burner Sim for data.

    • Why should we not port out from kogan to catch connect.? Can you pls elaborate as am planning to do.

      • Unless you intend to stay for a longtime with Catch Connect, then there's no issue.
The issue only present the moment you want to port out from Catch Connect to Kogan and not the other way around.

Two more things stop me from going with Catch:
¹ unlike Kogan and Lebara, you pay for excess data usage
² you have to call them to stop auto renew

    • +6

Really? You can actually turn off auto renew online.

unlike Kogan and Lebara, you pay for excess data usage

Do you have any reference to support this claim?

As far as I know, Catch Connect is a prepaid service just like the other two. If you use up all your data, you simply can't use the internet until the next recharge of your plan or if you buy an extra data pack

Data Extras can be used for data in
      Australia. Charged per KB. Unused
Data Extras credit can be rolled
over, up to a maximum of 20GB, if
you add additional Data Extras to
your service before the expiry of
      your current Data Extras pack.
Data Extras are used before any data included in your plan

you have to call them to stop auto renew

That's 100% incorrect. You can turn off auto-renewal with one click in the dashboard after you activate your SIM. Just like with Kogan.

True, I did it yesterday. What you can't do is remove your CC or switch to BPay like amaysim

      • yet they say each GB is $10 extra.. maybe its prepaid because they charge u the moment u go over so ur 'prepaying' for that extra gig?

        • No they don't. You need to conciously buy a data pack or wait till the next recharge.

The only thing coming out automatically is next month's recharge and even that only if you didn't turn off auto-renewal.
